Bidding for cabin upgrade

Has anyone had any success bidding on a cabin upgrade?  We are on Enchanted, March 7 and I just submitted a low bid for a deluxe balcony. Be ok if we don’t get it, but ok if we don’t get it too. Any success with low bids?  Might be in a worse location?  Thems the chances.

thanks

Like I've told here on CC, if you win your bid, and you accept it, you're stuck with whatever you get.  If you don't like what you get:  Can't  cancel!

My take on bidding for an upgrade.

We have done it 3 times and it was accepted twice.  However, we bid on a category upgrade, Reserve Collection Mini Suite to a Full Suite.  We also bid with the assumption that we would be happy with the upgrade regardless of location.  Also, I would not expect the bid to be accepted with a low ball amount unless the cruise is not selling well.

If location is very important to you, bidding on an upgrade might not be your best option, especially assuming the OP is bidding on an upgrade within the balcony category.  The cost may not be offset by the benefit.

Enjoy your cruise. 🙂

I've bid twice now, one was won and the other was not.

First attempt was a Spring Break Cruise last March and the ship was nearly sold out.

Last attempt was already a deal, got a limited time offer from the casino for a free interior, $200 casino Play and Princess Plus included if I could sail within the next 2 months on select cruises.  Pretty sure they were trying to fill the cruise.

Booked on November 13th, bid on November 16th ($20pp min bid for Obstructed Balcony, $70pp min bid for balcony, $75pp 'fair' bid for Obstructed Deluxe Balcony and $90pp min bid for Deluxe Balcony), bid for Deluxe Balcony was accepted December 13th for our January 14th sailing.

I truly don't care about location of cabin, we ended up in D150, so quite a bit forward, but I had no issue whatsoever, I really just wanted more space since there were 3 adults cruising in the one cabin.

I'll see how things go on next cruise, we hit 85 days out tomorrow, so I'll see how things go with that one.  We are already in a Deluxe Balcony, so I expect there won't be a lot of options for Upgrade, especially since it's an Alaskan Cruise that does not have a huge amount of availability right now.

Agree

Everyone has their own likes & dislikes but location is a must for us. We have them put the do not upgrade stamp on our booking summary as soon as we book. We love being midship and steps away from everything. Our friends dont mind walking from one end of the ship to the other to have a balcony upgrade but that is just not for us. Hope you get a good one!
