Victress2007 Posted February 25 #1 Share Posted February 25 In 2017 we lived in Oregon when the eclipse happened there. Now we live in Texas and will once again be able to get to the path of totality and watch the event. Last time it was pancakes and prosecco at a local winery. This time I think it will be pulled pork at a local combined winery and brewery. Either way I'm checking out my old photos and hoping for a clear day! pengu1n Posted February 25 #2 Share Posted February 25 I'm looking forward to this too! In 2017 I drove about 2 hours west from St. Louis, this time about 2 hours south. I have a hotel room, but am going down 2 days early to decide on my shooting location. This video on youtube lists some very helpful apps. I don't think I agree with him about not worrying about capturing the diamond ring and bailey beads. We'll have 4 minutes to capture the corona, it's not going to hurt to try to get those special shots too. I love your diamond ring shot!
Rare pierces Posted February 26 #3 Share Posted February 26 (edited) We traveled to Salem for the last one. Crossed it off the bucket list and since my son moved back to CA from TX, we have no plans to travel to this one. It was spectacular, though. Composite image. Good luck! Victress2007 Posted April 15 Author #4 Share Posted April 15 The weather in Texas in 2024 didn't cooperate as thoroughly as it did in Oregon in 2017. But the clouds parted at the right time and it was a great experience. At times the clouds were thin enough to act as a filter and help us see what was going on. Rare mahdnc Posted April 16 #5 Share Posted April 16 Although the day started off with heavy fog and overcast skies, by the time the eclipse started we thankfully had clear skies in southern Illinois.
