Karen Lynn Posted March 1 #1 Share Posted March 1 I understand the 'real' is their currency ... credit cards widely accepted. Going to a few ports - so I am thinking a smaller amount for taxis - markets - cafes and such suffices ? Appreciate any tips from those that have been ? Many thanks
jcl410 Posted March 5 #2 Share Posted March 5 The Real is the only legal currency accepted in Brazil. We bought 200USD worth of Reals from Bank of America before we flew down there. (Wed overnighted in Santos, and couple of stops in Brazil as well.) Credit cards ARE widely accepted, but some of the smaller vendors on the beach didn't take them.
