Stay on the ship??? That's what I would do, but I've been to Nassau several times. staceyvols had a great recommendation for the Blue Lagoon - beautiful! But - book it through the ship, as you'll have to be back early.

Sleep in? That's what we do.. another option is the Ardastra Gardens depending on the day..the flamingo parade is at 11:00 and the gardens are lovely (for a one time thing).. If you are wanting to "beach it", agree with Blue Lagoon Island

Wow, i'm surprised at these responses. We go to Paradise Island every year and love shopping in Nassau. Great deals on jewerly and watches. Also, if you have kids the Pirate Museum is fun, at least my kids liked it. And I have to agree with Blue Lagoon..it is absolutely beautiful! You could also go and check out Atlantis, they aquariums are great although expensive and the have a casino if you what to loose your money. We also do a snorkell trip every year with THE FLYING CLOUD from Paradise Island Pier. You would probably have plenty of time to do there morning cruise. Let me know if you have any questions. I am not an expert but have been to Paradise Island a bunch of times!

I agree with VERAB and would recommend a visit to Atlantis on Paradise Island. Just take a taxi from the ship and it is about a 15 minute run. You can also take a boat but it can get rough some times.

Atlantis is a luxary hotel (like it starts at $700 a day) and you can tour most of the facilities. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel itself is made with many forms of marbel from around the world. It has several levels and at the bottom level is the aquarium. It is probably one of the best aquariums I have ever seen. You can tour about a fourth of it for free. If you want to do the remaining tour, you can buy tickets. They are very expensive (in the high twenties) and the tour lasts about an hour. You you can go back and view any exhibit. The tanks are massive and you get the feeling that you are actually down a hundred feet viewing the fish. The back grounds are scenes from Atlantis and hence the name. The pictures you take there can be very impressive.

If you want to see pictures taken at Atlantis, do the following: 1. In your SEARCH box type "Webshots Community". 2. Select the "Webshots Community" site, usually the first site. 3. Scroll down to "Find a member" and type in "richfret". Press enter or Go. 4. The word "richfret" will appear underlined about mid page. Click on the underlined word "richfret". 5. You will see 2 albums to view. Pick one and view.

Have a good cruise.

Stay on the ship would've been better than the shopping when we were there in Sept. 03. Ugh! It was gridlock and the same touristy shops with the same exact stuff over and over and over. We got a better deal on a Tanzanite ring on the ship than we could find in Nassau.

Go to Blue Lagoon! I went there on my second cruise. I have now been on about 10 cruises and Blue Lagoon is still one of favorite cruise memories. It is a really beautiful place. You'll love it.

Defintely stay on board and sleep in. A five-hour port call isn't long enough to do anything worthwhile.

Blue Lagoon Island is perfect!!! I have been home a week from the Miracle and want to go back. There is a lot to do on the Blue Lagoon Island. We chose to snorkle, but there is a bar, snack shop, dolphin encounter, gift shop, as well as locals selling their goods, plenty of beach space, hammocks, etc. We had the best time there. We enjoyed the history lesson on the way to the island as well.

Hi imsulin!! Glad to hear from you again! He's back to 100% normal, walking!!!!! A little shakey but we're so relieved. I tried to post the news a few times, and the host kept deleting my posts. When I emailed her, she said that it is off topic. (I emailed her again and said, "Well, the host Walt, has a photo of his cat on the Fix board, and I thought I'd be allowed to post as well...so she left my last post on that board, but nothing since)...oh well, guess she's right. Hey.....good to hear from you again, and THANKS for caring! Mary

You can all go together to Blue Lagoon Island I believe. The boat took a bunch of us from our ship over to the island and we were not all snorkling. You can ask the information desk on the ship to make sure. I know that they have boats going back to the dock two different times. We took the later boat back. It dropped us off right near the straw market and close to Sr. Frogs.

Sea-Cruise,

We have gone on the Flying Cloud twice in the last two years and enjoyed it both times. It is a 54 foot catamaran that sails around Paradise Island to a snorkeling spot. We like it because one, it is not very expensive around $35 a person if I remember right and 2, both times we have been it has not been very crowded. We enjoyed the relaxing sail out and coming back it is more of a party with rum punch and bahamian music. I looked up the times for you and they have a 9:30 departure and a 2p.m. You could take a taxi across the bridge to Paradise Island Pier and they are right there. If you want more information their email address if FlyingCloud@coralwave.com

I am not associated with this outfit in anyway(although it sounds like it) but we have had good experiences with them and will be in Paradise again in November and I am sure we will be sailing with them again. Let me know if you go and what you think!

Hey, Mary! Thanks for the update on Arnold. I know it's OT, but there were SO many of us who cared so much about him (and you!) Thanks for the update! I guess there was a reason your Arnold posts got deleted (far be it from me to guess why), but you're such a nice and sincere person, and I've enjoyed all of your posts. Your grandsons are going to have a blast!!

My daughter and I will be doing the dolphin swim in July and it is my understanding that we are responsible for getting ourselves to Paradise Island via a taxi or ferryboat. My question is this: Has anyone done this in the past and how often does the ferryboat/taxi run and can we stay on the island as long as we want after the swim? thanks Joan

Joan,

The taxi should only take you 10 minutes. It is only accross the bridge, you will see it when you get to Nassau. Paradise Island and Atlantis will be on the right side of the ship. You can catch a taxi right at the end of the dock. I don't know anything about the ferry.

You can also stay on the island as long as you want. If I remember they have boats running back and forth about every 3o minutes. It is really beautiful there, you will have a great time. If you get Stormy as your dolphin, tell him we said hello.

Vera
