catweazlecat Posted March 27 #1 Share Posted March 27 Good Morning from Germany, we are booked on the Millenium to Japan in August and I am trying to find information about privat guides that would be recommended by experience on previous cruises. Have looked up the "tours by locals" already, but they only offer very few guides that have availability or don't speak proper english unfortunately. Any advise is highly appreciated 🙂
Rare Miaminice Posted April 3 #2 Share Posted April 3 (edited) @catweazlecat Hello, also from Germany, try Koichi Wasa for the Kyoto area. We have toured with him on some of our cruises to Japan and he´s very good. You can also look into https://gowithguide.com/ for guides. If you are interested in the report of our latest cruise to Japan, you can find it here: https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2970853-celebrity-millennium-japan-10242023-liveish-report/ Enjoy Japan! LovesToRead Posted April 7 #3 Share Posted April 7 I used Pinpoint Traveler for excursions to Kyoto and Nara in March. I contacted Pinpoint after reading a review here on Cruise Critic. In mid-March, we had a wonderful day and a half visiting both areas. Kevin, our guide, was extremely accommodating and personable. He provided informative background about the sites, shared many of his own experiences in Japan and arranged for us to have lunch at local restaurants where we could sample dishes common to the area. We could not have covered as much ground if we had taken the ship’s excursions.
