Question about MSC Lirica, cruising from Venice, stops in Italy & Greece.

This is a long shot, but can anyone here share their experiences on similar cruises?

There are 4 of us who have done a few cruises, pretty much through Princess and P&O Australia, but never have we been near a MSC ship, nor have we been to Europe before.

In particular, if anyone has any tips on how to best get from the port back to the airport, it would be appreciated. There are taxis and private car hires but they seem expensive. Has anyone tried the bus? As far as I know, the ship docks in Port Merghera. Our cruise is not till late September but we like to be organised!

Thanks in advance for any information about these ships.

It's got more complicated since they prevented docking directly in Venice. As many ships are using different nearby ports, there's not such a clear focus for the transport providers. Personally, I use Welcome Pickups who are incredibly reliable and speak great English. They're usually a reasonable price too.

MSC uses Marghera which is an industrial port quite close to Venice island, whereas other lines use ports hours down the close.

You can book transfers for disembarkation day, the default is a free coach transfer to the old cruise terminal on the island.

You can't walk out of the port, and you won't get a taxi either, so book MSC for a direct transfer or arrange onward travel from the old cruise terminal.

Copy of example disembarkation form attached.
