Bidding for Air ticket

Do any of you experts have any advice about bidding for air tickets at Priceline or Hotwire?? We are looking for cheap air fare roundtrip from Seattle to Fort Lauderdale for Dec 2006. Currently the best deal we found is AA @ US$264.00 pp. Is this consider a good deal?? :D

If Priceline is showing you an actual airline and/or flight time, that's outside their bidding model. I think that the transparent side just sells discounted tickets.

 

If you want to bid, you need to go down the "Name your own price" route. But it's very opaque, and you could end up with just about anything. And the wide range of possible flight times, which you won't know for sure until after you've paid, means that you have to allow lots of margin if you're flying to/from a cruise.

Yes, this is considered a "good deal" for a trip between Seattle and Ft. Lauderdale. If you found it on AA's website, go ahead and book it now. Anytime that the fares you find beat what Southwest is offering, it generally makes sense to book it. BTW, while ITASoftware is a good site, it does not include Southwest fares (or jetBlue and some minor carriers that do not operate in your market anyway).
