tamscottc Posted June 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Hi All, We are booked Triumph July 31st sailing. I am running into high fares into Miami, but could do FLL much cheaper. My question is will we make a early flight home if we do self assist. Would love to hear input from anyone who has done this recently and what time your flight home was. Thanks, Tammy
hdawson Posted June 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2004 That schedule looks awfully tight. INS and Customs could cause you not getting off the ship till 9:30 or even later depending on how many ships are disembarking. Shuttles won't leave until full. Taxi is about $65. Allow a minimum of 45 min to an hour to the Fll airport. Then allow at a minimum of one hour for clearing security. All this is assuming that you will already have your boarding pass and no problem checking luggage.

IrishEyes2 Posted June 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2004 I had a relative just get back from a cruise who had trouble disembarking. Seems there was a computer glitch or something. Anyway, passengers were not permitted to disembark until the problem was fixed...that was around 10:30 a.m.!!!! I wouldn't chance it!
*christina* Posted June 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2004 We were on the Triumph last week. Disembarkment Saturday morning was delayed due to the fact that we had to make a stop in Nassau on Fri. evening because one of the passengers needed medical care in a land based hospital. We arrived back in port just a bit later than planned. They did not start self assist debarkation until 9:30. We did not use self assist, but were among the first colors to be called. We collected our luggage, got a shuttle and got to FLL just right before 12:00. Our flight wasn't until 5:25, so we had plenty of time, but we would have never made an earlier flight. I wouldn't chance it if I were you. Triumph June 2004 Jubilee July 2002 Time till Triumph on 6/
imsulin Posted June 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2004 11:30 out of Miami is a pretty good bet, but 11:30 from FLL from a ship docking in Miami is cutting it WAY too close! Anytime I do that, I take a flight out of FLL after 5:00 p.m., and take one of the ship's post-cruise excursions. That Everglades tour is pretty cool! Your luggage is stored on the tour bus, and you get to your airport in plenty of time to go through Security. Good luck!
serene56 Posted June 15, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Not on a carnival cruise would I pick a flight at 11:30 from FLL. On our Victory cruise they didnt start embarkation until later then usual. Stupid people who think they can get off the ship without paying their bill. A cruise is a vary relaxing vacation--why stress making that flight if you dont have to. Take a later flight--stay onboard for as long as possible then head to the airport. If a cruise was out of MIA and flying out of MIA I would take the 11:30. But you have a 45 minute drive to get there. (minus or add time depending on traffic Going NOWHERE Miracle, February 13, 2005 Legend, October 22,2004 Voyager August 31,2003 Victory September 22,2002 Regal Empress,June 2001 Sensation,August 2000

We were lucky...thought NooN would be stretching it, but they were kind enough to board us on an earlier flight at no charge...we were home in Houston, at the same time we boarded Victory a week earlier...how we wished we had the week back... Sea Legs Posted June 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 15, 2004 We were on the Triumph May 8th thru 15th and id the early disembarkment due to a 11:55 flight out of Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta. We were off the ship in a flash and on a bus to te airport. Had about 2 hrs at the FLL airport before our flight departed. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Enjoy the Triumph. We certainly did!
