Cruise Ship Goes Aground in Oregon River

PORTLAND, Ore. (March 24) - A cruise ship with more than 250 people on board ran aground Friday on the Columbia River east of here. Officials said no injuries were reported, the vessel wasn't sinking and was not leaking fuel.

The 360-foot Empress of the North - a vessel modeled on the sternwheelers of the 1800s - ran aground between Portland and Washougal, Wash., the Coast Guard said. It sustained some damage, but it was not clear how much, authorities said.

Maybe you could put all the smokers on them so the captains can see them ...

In an effort to quell all of the boards about banning smoking ... can we all please wait for the facts.

I am a 1st time cruiser that has learned a lot from these boards, and even made some friends. The deluge of Ban Smoking boards is making it very hard for me to think that this is going to be a good time.

Move on until we have the facts.

Thank you -
