Explora 1 live May 6, 2024

Day three on this journey. We are docked in Astoria Oregon, a charming city where years ago they filmed goonies plan shortly to take a ride on the shuttle into town and look around. I’m attaching photos of last nights dinner and Sakura the Asian restaurant. Food was delicious and service excellent. It didn’t hurt that the place was designed and decorated beautifully.

I do not. But I will inquire. There are many people on the ship my guess would be somewhere over 500. I’ll post as soon as I get the number.

Is the shuttle provided by Explora?

car? Bus? Van?

Bus I think. Going now. Goes every 30 minutes until 4:30 PM today into town, which is about 15 minutes away from dock

Since questions are popular.  Who is running the show in Sakura?

When we were on the April 12th sailing, Abigail was the manager of Sakura. She has been on both of our cruises and is one of our absolute favorites!  She goes above and beyond and made sure several of the staff gathered around and sang me happy birthday during breakfast on my birthday.

It is basically happening at every bar around the ship.
If you want a DJ spinning some nice chillout tunes with it, you need to visit the Astern Pool and bar on deck 5 aft.
If you prefer a peaceful and more quiet setting, then my recommendation would be to visit the wonderful Sky Bar on deck 14 aft. Best place for sunset and late afternoons.
This of course applies to warm weather cruises.

Sky Bar was not open yesterday.  Workers were doing construction on the floors.  Wonder why no elevator comes there.

Uneducated guess: No place to put the machinery required.
