Rare BirdTravels Posted May 19 Author #202 Share Posted May 19 (edited) The Bird was looking for some crispy bacon and found some frozen bacon in the ship’s freezer. 800 pounds of bacon is served each day on the ship. For food safety, there are different freezers and prep areas for meats, poultry, seafood as well as fresh veg and dairy. Most frozen foods are shipped to the Joy from NCL central provisioning in Florida. Some fresh veg, dairy, and eggs are sourced in NY. Do we get a view of the ship’s brig next? 😉

A respectful resting placed for the recently departed is on Deck 13.

Rare BirdTravels Posted May 19 Author #206 Share Posted May 19 Oh No! Say it isn’t so… but it is already time to go. Don’t forget to pick up your luggage tags in the atrium. It is highly recommended to let the porters take your bags to the baggage hall ashore. Too many people “think” they can handle their luggage in crowded elevators (may take 30 minutes to get in an elevator - and everyone knows the trick to ride up, so that doesn’t help either), through crowded halls, down the very uneven gangway, through the terminal, through the baggage hall, through customs and out onto the street.

Rare BirdTravels Posted May 19 Author #213 Share Posted May 19 Rather than stocking the mini fridge with items that people feel compelled to tamper with, NCL has enhanced their in-room experience with SWIFT beverage service.

DMP609 Posted May 19 #217 Share Posted May 19 Thanks, Bird, for the excellent trip report and information on the Joy. It's very helpful for our planning for when we take this same trip in a few weeks. Safe travels home.
Buford T Justiice Posted May 19 #218 Share Posted May 19 (edited) Thank you for the review. The passenger book sharing leave a book / take a book program certainly has dwindled with the advent of kindles. On the Getaway in February there were 0.0 books available most of the time. The three I left were quickly scoffed up. Edited May 19 by Buford T Justiice

Rare BirdTravels Posted May 19 Author #222 Share Posted May 19 We need power! At the desk, there are 3 US and 1 European outlets. In the bathroom, there is a 110V / 220V shaver outlet… for shavers only. The bedside lights have a USB outlet. BUT, from a cybersecurity perspective, you should never, ever use a USB outlet that you don’t personally own. Not at the mall, not at an airport, not in a hotel, not on a cruise ship. Always use your power cord.
