Kiel to Lubeck

Has anyone recently travelled from Kiel to Lubeck by train and back in a day?  I know it takes over an hour each journey.  How much does it cost for a day return and how easy was it?

Both of you will get there and back for €43 if you buy a Kleingruppenkarte ( small group ticket) . Up to 5 people can travel together for that price in second class. I highly recommend downloading the Deutschebahn App and buying tickets . You will then be sent up to date notifications of any delays etc.,  unfortunately much more common nowadays than in the past. Shouldn’t make too much difference on the short route between Kiel and Luebeck though, there’s plenty trains going back and forth.
