Onto the winery. While I will drink the wine and eat the food at these places on tours, I stopped buying whatever they are selling. I find I can buy just as good, if not better, much cheaper, elsewhere.

I had not noticed roses being planted near grapes before, but apparently they serve as an earning warning system against a particularly deadly (to grapevines) mildew and maybe more

They had plenty for sale. Prices included shipping, but they wouldn't give me a discount for taking with me, so no sale.

Still able to walk, we headed for San Gimignano.  We only had about an hour here instead of the two or more we were expecting.

I did pick up a bottle of San Gimingnano Vernaccia for about a 1/3 the price of what the winery wanted for theirs. There were at least a dozen to choose from, none even approaching the price the winery wanted.
