Discovery Princess 9:45 a.m Vancouver arrival

Anyone know why the Sept. 20 Discovery Princess Alaska cruise will arrive for disembarkation in Vancouver on Sept.28th at 9:45 a.m.?

Royal class ships have to time with the tides getting under the lions gate bridge. You will notice the departure on the 28th, is not scheduled till 10:30pm.

 

I believe the Majestic when it arrived from the recent Transpacific sailing, it arrived in the very early morning hours because of the tides. I believe it is only the ‘Royal’ class ships that have to deal with this, as the smaller ships have a regular schedule.

We lucked out when we sailed the Discovery Princess out of Vancouver last spring and had a relatively typical sailaway time, but even at low tide it really feels like you're just inching under the bridge.

Wish I'd gone up on top deck for it, but even in the balcony it was pretty cool:

 

When I sailed into Vancouver on the Norwegian Bliss, we spent a couple of hours in the afternoon just circling in the harbour waiting for the tides to get low enough so we could pass under the bridge:
