WIFI Calling on the Premium Internet package

Does anyone have experience doing this on the Carnival Celebration.  Have done it on other Cruise lines but have not sailed Carnival for quite some time.

Carnival blocks WiFi calling.

Carnival blocks SOME WiFi calling.

 

IPSec tunneling IP based phone calling as used by most carriers seems to be generally blocked - although I have heard of folks having it work.

 

Other VoIP calling like WhatsApp, Goofle Voice, etc. is much more likely to work.

 

Basically - anything that depends on secure tunnel to your cell phone company to work - probably won't... and anything that pre-encrypts and sends data packets like standard VoIP likely will.

I tested Skype and Google Voice a couple cruises back and they both worked for me.

We use FaceTime and it worked perfectly

I just did this on the Carnival Spirit using Skype.  It worked perfectly.  Skype is especially good when calling those that only have a landline, like my 85 year-old mother.

Last September on Celebration Facetime and Imessage worked fine, but wi-fi calling did not work.
