Rare dronnygirl Posted June 5 #2 Share Posted June 5 Ajaccio just walk off the ship. Nice town with references to Napoleon, who was born there. Walk right over the top and you come to a lovely promenade with beach If you wish to go to Rome it's best to take a ship trip as it's quite a way. Civitavecchia is a pleasant walk along the front, shops and cafes Livorno-depends on how adventurous you are. We took the train to Lucca and Pisa but there are lots of trips. The ship docks at a working port and a free shuttle takes you into town where there is a canal, shops and cafes

Pensioncruiser Posted June 5 #4 Share Posted June 5 Hi Barcelona is very easy to do on your own for just a walk round Les Ramblas. But would recommend a ships trip for anything else. Rome as said is best on a ships coach they do just drop you off after showing you the sights so for pick up recommend you get the guides mob number just incase 😖. Enjoy 😊

andyS87 Posted June 9 #6 Share Posted June 9 Hi, We did ‘Rome in a Day’ which takes you on a guided tour of all of the main sites though you don’t get to go inside anything. We didn’t think this one was very good value for money, it was advertised as including with a trip to St Peter’s Basilica which didn’t happen. Given the price of it (over £100 per person) I wouldn’t bother with it and think ‘Rome on Your Own’ would be a better choice. We also did the trip which took us to Florence in the morning and Pisa in the afternoon which we really enjoyed. The morning had a guided tour of Florence with a bit of free time for lunch/shopping etc then the afternoon was spent in the Miracle Square which is where the leaning tower is. As the others have said, Corsica is lovely and you dock in the town centre so it’s easy to just step off and explore. We took the shuttle bus in Barcelona which took us from the ship to the bottom of La Rambla in about 10 mins. We had booked to go to Monaco from St Raphael but that stop was cancelled so we ended up having an overnight in Barcelona instead which we were happy with. Would have been great to see Monaco though! Hope you have a great time!
