We've done Alaska on the Amsterdam, Maasdam, Noordam, Oosterdam (several of these multiple times), and Quantum of the Seas.  I'd never do RCCL again as they did absolutely no commentary when in the glaciers and scenic areas and said that it was banned for environmental reasons (hogwash & I told them so as we've been on many HAL cruises where there is lots of commentary).  Later this summer we're going NB to Alaska on the Koningsdam and returning on Princess, so I'll be able to do some further comparisons. Please go to Alaska to see Alaska; I believe you won't be disappointed with HAL or Princess.  Both have been doing Alaska for a very long time..

My experience with RCCL also. Not only that - there was no cool Alaska talks onboard. There was shopping talks. I probably would only do RCCL if it was free. For me it was night and day between RCCL and the other trips I have done to Alaska.

When sailing to AK, I care a lot less about the cruiseline.  It's about the itinerary.  The Princess sailing is a northbound cruise which gives you a great opportunity to rent a car in Anchorage and do your own thing all over.  We did that for 10 days and it was fantastic.  There is so much more to see than the inside passage.  Now, if you're traveling with teens or younger, the ship does make more of a difference but we are past that stage.
