1st time cruiser wants to know about Victory.

The title says it all, we want to hear from former passangers on Victory. This is our first cruise and we know nothing! LOL. What are the highlights? What not to miss. Also I heard all the pools are salt water, true?

Just back from Victory. For my wife and I our favorite thing to do at night was the sing-a-long in the piano bar.

All the water on the ship does come from the ocean, even what you drink.

I don't know if the pools are salty though.

Our first cruise - loved the Victory! Yes, the pools are salt water. Deck three outside is a nice place to get away from it all - use the doors by the lobby bar. You'll see a thread on here about Carnival's reubens at the deli on Lido deck; they are worth standing in line for. Oldest Son loved the pizza - he was rather fond of midnight pizza raids. We had early seating (6:15) in the Atlantic (forward) dining room; I preferred this seating to the 5:45 seating in the aft dining room, which we had on Conquest.

We leave May 14th. I am so excited I can hardly wait! Reading these boards is the best thing yet. So much advice!

We Enjoyed the Victory the least of all our Carnival cruises. Don't get me wrong it was a great cruise as all of them always are. Its just, the ship was to big for us at times we felt like we were being herded.......lol The poor staff seemed overworked and tired. We didnt care for the deli, but the calizones in the pizza place were excelent, you have to order them and they take about 10 minutes, but definatly worth the wait.

 

The casino was always packed if thats your thing. Kariokie (sp) Was another great show. lots of activities going on at all hours. Great night club action, if your into that.

 

You'll have a great time, and i am sure you will be addicted as we all are.

 

Our first cruise was with Disney, we had a blast. I didnt relize what fun i was missing out on till we went with Carnival! Definetly fits "The Fun Ship" name.

My family and I were on the Valor Last Year On the April 17th---April 24th sailing to the Eastern Caribbean. We had a blast. We have sailed with both Carnival and Royal Caribbean, and our trip on the Victory has been the best yet. I am actually excited to be leaving on aother carnival cruise in Six days. I am going to be on the Valor with 56 other friends and family members doing a Exotic Western Caribbean tour to Grand Cayman, Isla Roatan (Hondorus), Belize, and Costa Maya! I cant Wait. I will just say that you will have the time of your life. Have a Great Trip!!!!!!!!

I was just on the VICTORY in August and let me tell you that it is a beutiful

ship. there was 3400 passengers on the ship when we went and the only time you know there is that many people on the ship is at breakfast. My advice to you is wake up early if you want the buffet breakfast. The pools

do have salt water in them but its not that salty. Definetly check out the piano bar that place is awsome. If you have a balcony bring a bungy cord to keep the door open.

we sailed the 3/5-3/12 Eastern and had a wonderful time!!! Agreed, the piano bar is a great spot. So is the Black and Red bar w/ the band MUSIC NETWORK. Good stuff! We had the 8:00 sitting for dinner which worked out great, but we were in the back and it shook terrible some evenings. Pools are salt water along w/ the water slide. They warn you to take off jewelry if going into the hot tubs. Food was good, especially the lobster (order 2!)

 

Have a GREAT TIME!!! We loved it so much, just booked another for the Miracle/Western...not til next March, though:(

 

PS: If ya see Jaimee on the Lido deck (drink server)...tell him Lisa, Jackie, Matt and Tony said Hey...we'll have the drink of the day!:D

Another good place to get away is deck 9 forward. Walk past the rooms and there is an exit door, most people don't realize it's open to the public.

 

We brought a bungie but didn't need it. The door stayed open all night no problem. That is till the first morning when room service brought our coffee, the wind almost blew the young lady over.

I've done 3 on the Victory and 5 on her sister ship the Triumph. Identical ships. I usually do not care for ships that large but these are no problem. I skip late breakfast and lunch on the lido. Either go early or eat in the dining room. DELI is fantastic and the ONE place I will stand in line !! Very worth the wait. DH gets our drinks and table and I bring sandwiches. We am not your usual Carnival passangers, I'm 65 and DH is 75 but we love these ships. SO much to do for all ages. Quiet time or lots of action it is easy to find either. You will find some wonderful places to relax and enjoy being out on the ocean -- just make sure you don't get so involved in the activities that you miss moonlight on a deserted outside deck or your balcony!! KEEP the daily Capers and your deck plan with you at all times. You will be handed a deck plan on boarding and Capers tells you when and where everything is. I've seen people with a Capers marked up with a highlighter making sure they do not miss anything. Bring a sticky note pad to leave notes on the mirror in the cabin in case you are not always in the same place at the same time.
