OBSERVATIONS FROM THE POOP DECK JUNE 2024

Perhaps a more appropriate analogy is family A,B & C are told there will be a 30-minute wait for a table.  Five seconds later, family D comes in an offers the hostess $100 to be seated ahead of all those who are waiting. I understand that many people are comfortable doing this, it just makes me uncomfortable.

Or....

The 4 families go to Disneyworld but family D purchases Genie+ which allows family D to enjoy the attractions sooner while families A, B, & C wait in line.

We left Le Cabaret Rouge during Georgia's second song and headed for the Chora Theatre to watch Premiere. Left early and got front row seats for 10 pm BB Jazz Quartet. They were good. Best entertainment we both thought. Could not stay up for the comedian, so when we got up to leave the Loft Cafe the room was packed, only our two seats were vacant for 3 seconds.

"What? No Oat Milk?"

MSC sent it to Explora and changed the spelling to "mylk," because Explora uses their own version of English.

Getting back to last night. This cake was on the table while we exited the YC Restaurant. I had the Grandma's chocolate cake, but when we were exiting I stopped to take this photo. The hostess, Nelly was behind me eyeing this cake and was kind enough to suggest she send a couple of pieces to our cabin for later. Nice gesture, but with it out front with everybody leaning over it , it is no different than a buffet item being coughed all over, so we passed. On our way to LCR we saw other cakes identical outside every restaurant being treated in the same fashion.

This is very helpful - We were about to start testing powdered lactose-free milks for our August adventure. Nice that we may not have to.

I feel a little bit like I started something. That wasn't my intent. As I said upthread...the situation I reacted to was in my mind, extreme. I don't have a problem with YC guests being escorted to reserved seats at the theater, or to tender. That was not the experience I was describing.  I feel like I got an experience with a butler that was inexperienced or was trying too hard and didn't use their better judgement. I do not have any moral qualms about paying for a higher level of service.

We are not the types to get excited about cutting in line - but we do love food and good drinks and service - and that is what we are paying for when we enjoy YC.

To suggest that people might not be of "YC caliber" because they enjoy perks differently...or to suggest they can't afford "the life" because they prefer to enjoy it as an upgrade rather than pay full price is absurd.

...and none of that is to imply that I think any of you aren't entitled to experience life the way you enjoy.

We are not line cutting because we pay a high price for the special treatment of not having to wait on long lines. We do YC 100% of the time for that privilege because of it. Is it possible that maybe the YC is not for all 🤔🤔🤔 hmmmm?

Cute! I'll see that, and raise you, "Oops! I did it again!"  B. Spears. 199--something.

I already said I didn't intend to cause a cruft. I stand by my sentiments, though.

I hope y'all have a wonderful cruise, by the way.

Gentlemen,

May I suggest we either let this one go or you challenge one another to a duel at sea?

There are much more matters that need attending to. Such as oat milk on the buffet and sneeze-infused cake.

Monster Joe, Please tell me where in my post I directed my response at you?
All I meant was that some like us appreciate all the perks of the YC all the time and only book it.

It is 10:00 am and the breakfast buffet on the One Pool Deck is closed. BUT I saw this sign.

Was there someone there to take you order and did you get it?

Your sentiments are admirable. No YCer has the authority to butt in any line. In your description of the event the butler was not sensitive in the manner in which the action was handled. Steerage or suite class we are all sentient beings and should all be treated with respect. Understandable this will affect your future course, but let us not throw the baby out with the bath water. The perks of YC are the best in the cruise industry and the rush to fill positions without proper training is ruffling feathers.

In your case they will make an exception. What I think they are referring to are men showing up in bathing trunks. This is how low the YC has sunk.

Just bathing trunks or short pants as well.

I am still baffled by the gentleman that wore a tank top ('wife beater') and shorts to dinner to Le Muse on the Divina.  Very surprised he was permitted to dine.

Instead I see something and think to myself, "that's a great perk, perhaps I should pay for a suite next time so I can have that experience as well."

I look at it this way.  We both visited the same web site to choose our cruise and cabin and both knew the cost and benefit of our choices.  Someone standing in line made the decision they did not want to choose the opportunity to be able to avoid standing in logs lines and should therefore not be taken aback that someone who decided they wanted the benefit of skipping the line was doing so.

Dependent upon what an individual cruiser is looking for in an elevated experience, n'est-ce pas?

I would agree, with the exception of the Butcher's Cut steak for us carnivores 🤣.

Both the steaks I had the Le Muse on Divina were better than the steak I had in Buther's Cut, although all three were filets.  The meat was more tender and flavorful in Le Muse.  Just my personal experience.

As you know, we just got off the Celebrity Equinox while staying in the Retreat.

On embarkation day my wife and I were grabbing a drink the Retreat Lounge before dinner talking to an older gentlemen who rode bulls at the rodeo in his prime.

He said he was going to go grab dinner at Luminae and I said it was probably time we did the same.

He looked at the khaki shorts I was wearing and told me, "would you mind waiting a few minutes? I don't want them to think I'm with you dressed like that."

It was an honest mistake on my part...I didn't even think about it in the moment.

Needless to say - we went back to the room and changed before we went to dinner.

I don't particularly care what others wear to dinner, but on a personal level I try to show respect to others by adhering to the dress code (including formal nights).

---

As an aside - I look forward to the day when I'm old enough that I no longer care about pleasantries and just speak my mind without a filter...but I'm not sure my wife will enjoy that as much 😅

I love YC - not sure where that got lost.

and I have no animosity in this thread...I am just trying to communicate.

I hope everyone here has the best dang experiences they seek out.

I hear that.  The few times I have done, she's certainly let me know how she felt about it afterwards.

True. I look to be treated like a Prince and I am in the YachtClub. While I paid 3x the price and treated like a common serf as was everyone else on Regent Seven Seas.

When everyone has priority, no one has priority.

Not surprised in the least.

Across multiple cruise line message boards, the message is clear: Cruise lines of all tiers are loathe to enforce their own policies, lest a crass passenger throw a fit and it goes viral over the Interwebz cruise-o-sphere.

She never will. If I used my DW as a filter I wouldn’t be allowed on CC.
