Visiting Blue Lagoon and/or Sky Lagoon, without going inside.

Recommended Posts

We don't have a lot of interest in the thermal spas as far as actually getting into the water but do have some interest in seeing them as sights to see.  I know you used to be able to park outside the Blue Lagoon and walk around the perimeter to see the lagoon but can you still do it with the recent volcanic activity?  Can you get a good view at the Sky Lagoon from the outside?

I would not recommend going to the Sky Lagoon if you are not going to pay to go in.  It is in the middle of an industrial area.  Having said that, I would highly recommend going in and doing the 7 step ritual.  We absolutely loved it and preferred it to the Blue Lagoon.

Thanks.  From the pictures it looks so lovely, so scenic.  This trip for us is more about seeing than it is doing.  Family members went last winter and from their descriptions the thermals are not that exciting for us. We all have a different idea of what we will enjoy.

I totally agree that we all have different ideas, I just don't want you to be disappointed - It is lovely, but I just don't think you can see any of the lagoon area from the outside.  At the Blue Lagoon you can walk around and see some of the water.  Enjoy your trip - you will love Iceland.
