What might be some good shore excursions or what to do on our own?

We had considered either a Kenai Fjords boat trip or heading to Exit Glacier, but unfortunately experienced torrential rain which never really went off, so headed  for shelter indoors at the Seward Sealife Center which we really enjoyed. Strolling back to the ship in the rain, we spotted a small number of seals in the harbour. It was a good enough day, just not how we thought it would be.

Lots of info on Seward attractions online.  Try Tripadvisor and others. Maybe plan for both outside and inside attractions just in case?

Major Marine is excellent for a fjord tour!

Or for an once in a lifetime do an air tour with glacier landing: https://www.sewardair.com/ with Joey.

Alaska/Seward from a different perspective. Flying in between the mountains, spotting a whale below, over several glaciers and landing on the ice field with Joey's commentary and playlist I can't recommend this experience enough!

We very recently took the 7.5 hour Major Marine tour to Holgate/Aialik Glaciers and thoroughly enjoyed it! In fact, the next time we are in Seward we will be taking the Northwestern 8 hour tour!

The onboard naturalist was great. We liked that you were assigned an indoor seat, but had the freedom to move around the boat as desired. We saw Finn Whales (rare), Humpbacks lunge feeding, Orcas, Puffins, Mures, Bald Eagles, Kittiwakes, Harbor Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, Sea Otters, a black bear on shore, and probably more that I’m not thinking of. Kenai Fjords National Park was the highlight of our trip, and probably my favorite National Park so far. Or at least tied with the Redwoods 😁

These are just some quick photos I took with my iPhone. I probably took 200 throughout the day!
