Atlas Voyager Dining

We just returned from Voyager 9-night Svalbard/Longyearbyen trip.  Having read very critical reviews about Atlas food, we had reduced our expectations and were very pleasantly surprised by our actual experience.  
   Were experienced cruisers (32 trips) and pretty serious foodies.  Most recently, we’ve stuck with Regent.  
   The food was great, especially factoring type of trip (expedition) and size of ship.  So was dining room service.  
   Breakfast is served buffet style, with some dishes made to order. Wonderful variety of items and quality.  One can sometimes judge the care taken in the kitchen by the quality of bread and coffee served.  Atlas is tops, with a great variety of breads handmade onboard and great regular coffee or barista-made specialties.  
Want a bit of ham?  How about some hand-carved Iberian “Pata Negra?”

Or for lunch, an extensive buffet of cold items, a daily carving station, or other hot items?  Maybe some braised veal cheeks?   A Caesar hand tossed in a Parmesan rind bowl with, if you like, some wonderful optional anchovies and chunks of Parmesan?  And always soups and a large plant-based variety of dishes.  No problem here for vegan or gluten free diets.    And, rare on ships, fantastic ice creams if you choose. Actually worth the calories.  
  Dinner is served by waitstaff, mainly of whom are Balinese—as is Chef Mage.  Unlike dinner on some ships which can be a 2-hour event, service is totally unrushed but efficient. No waiting here.  Some items we enjoyed were Veal Osso Buco, a stunning Beef Wellington, tender Rack of Lamb, perfectly cooked Lobster Tail accompanied by squid ink ravioli and a chunk of pork belly, and the best venison I’ve eaten anywhere.  While they certainly don’t skimp on ingredients, the magic comes from the kitchen and Chef Mage’s folks.     
   If the items I mention sound a bit over the top for your tastes, Atlas certainly offers less exotic meat, fish, and plant-based options, too.  Hubby’s ribeye steak among these was a generous steakhouse size, too, though a bit chewy. Preparation was perfection, but they might consider a new purveyor.  
   Dessert or cheese course?  Maybe a soufflé?   A glass of Port?  To enjoy with that espresso?  
   The (included) wine selections feature champagne or a choice of Portuguese red, white, rose.   Or order a special bottle, some recommended with each meal, at about $50.  
   There is olive oil and vinegar on every table along with 3 mills of pepper, regular plus Himalayan salts to grind.

   Instead of a flower, each table featured either a fresh thyme or rosemary plant cared for by the Maitre D, and which they clipped for the Chef.   
   We thought it was great, and hope you agree and have a great trip with Atlas.

We were on the Navigator May 7-16, 2024.  The food was great and as @ScottnZelda described.  It was the best we have had on any ship.  We are frequent cruisers on Oceania and Azamara and have enjoyed the food on both.  However, the food on the Navigator was even better!
