Only 1 day in Barcelona

There is nothing to squeeze in. You will be walking on Las Ramblas when you go to the Gothic Quarter. You can't miss them.

Look at this map.  It is the walking route from your hotel to the Plaça Reial where you meet the tour.  The long straight road you will be walking on is Las Ramblas.  You will have seen almost the entire length before you get to the tour.

You might want to turn right when you get to Mercat de la Boqueria for a quick look at the market. The Boqueria Market is pickpocket center in Barcelona.  The one interesting thing, IMO, is the Miro mosaic on the pavement of las Ramblas just where you turn for the Boqueria.

So we can fit in everything we want to do in 48 hours?!!

We don’t mind being busy with tourist stuff! 😊

Thanks!  How do you add stops?

The panoramic tour you are looking at starts at Park Güell and ends up in front of your hotel. You would have to taxi back to SF and take the tour there.

This is what I would do on your full day, which will be very full, but you don’t mind that:

  • Book the first guided tour at SF at 9:30 with entry at 9:15. Taxi there at 8:45.
  • At 10:45-11:00 taxi to Park Güell. Get your tickets for 11:30.
  • Taxi to Casa Milá (La Pedrera) on Passeig de Gracia. Have lunch first at one of the many restaurants around there.
  • Visit Casa Milá and/or Casa Batlló.
  • Casa Batlló, Casa Amataller and Casa Morera are side by side on the same block.
  • Walk down to Plaza de Catalunya where your hotel is.

The next day, take the private tour to Montserrat and a cava winery.  Ask them to drive you to Montjuic on the way back to the ship for a drive by. The National Palace and the Olympic rings are on the Montjuic mountain.   The Columbus Monument is right in front of the port. You will drive past it on the way to the ship.

And that covers all the stops in the tour. Except that you are actually visiting the sites.

The Barcelona city tour picks us up at our hotel and ends at SF, with the option to stay after the tour to go inside. If we decide to go inside, which we would, they reimburse you for the cost of a taxi to get back to our hotel.

Something to consider but it’s a lot of taxis.

I inquired about this tour and we would only be able to do the half day one, which does not include a winery. Back to the drawing board for day 3. How long would your itinerary for day 2 take?  I believe we must be on the ship by 4 for a 6 PM sail-away.

That makes it better.  The order that you posted had a drive by the SF after the park.  If you take the tour, ask them at what time you are expected to end at the SF so you can buy your tickets ahead of time.  You don't want to arrive there and stand in line to buy tickets.  Chances are your tour will get you to the SF around 2 pm which is lunch time in Spain.

If you do it like I suggested with taxis (which are all over the place), you would arrive at the Passeig de Gracia around 1:00 which is "early" lunch time in Spain.  After lunch, visit one or both of the Gaudi houses.  It will take you one hour inside each one.  And it is a short walk back to the hotel.

For you day 3, the tour to Montserrat is still worthwhile even if you don't go to a winery.  You could also do any of the following things while the hotel holds your bags:  Gaudi houses on Passeig de Gracia if you did not go there on Day 2, OR Palau de la Musica and Picasso Museum (get tickets ahead of time), OR Sant Pau Hospital and Palau Güell.  OR go to the SF on Day 3 and add any of the above to Day 2.

We let them know ahead of time and they buy the tickets for us.

We had talked about possibly doing the Picasso museum day 3 and maybe some shopping or just wondering around. They have a tour that includes Montserrat and I believe all the other stuff I mentioned.

That tour seems to be just like the half day tour with the addition of Montserrat, except that it doesn't say that it visits Park Güell.  You might want to ask about that. If it doesn't, the whole Barcelona part is a drive by. The trip to Montserrat takes one hour each way and it does include a visit.  The website says that you can visit SF at the end of the tour. The last admission at SF is 6:15.  I would ask them to confirm that they will get you there on time. Also, I would ask them to get you the SF ticket that includes a guided tour instead of the audioguide.  It adds up to your experience and the difference is only €4. I know you want to "see it all" so go for it if you get the answers you want.

If you do take this tour, then you might want to visit the inside of at least one of the Gaudi houses the next morning.  If you don't take this tour and stick to the half day tour + SF, then save Montserrat for a future visit and stick to your original plan.

There is a lot more to see and enjoy in Barcelona, so plan on returning some day.

The best option for sightseeing would be to leave Wednesday and arrive Thursday morning.  Then you can get over jetlag and have ample time for sightseeing.  Look at all the suggestions above.  They are kind of compressed because the OP has a lot less time than you do,  Barcelona is worth the extra time.
