Shopping with the Chef

I understand you can not sign up for this until you are on board. Is that correct? If so, what is the process to sign up?

 

Also, is there any port day that this activity is more likely to happen? Like the first port day maybe? Would love to heard about you experiences.

When you’re on board, just go to the Seabourn Square, preferably sooner than later, and ask whether there will be a “Shopping With the Chef” during the voyage and when it will take place.  You can sign up at that time. 
 

In our experience, whether or not it takes place depends on the port, the weather, the chef, etc.  It may be scheduled, it may not be scheduled, and it may be canceled at the last moment. 

But it is a real treat if you are fortunately enough to experience it!

We love Shopping with the Chef but often miss out.  We always sign up for it but often don't hear another thing, even though we ask more than once.  

And regularly it's the same people doing it again and again on a long cruise which does stop others having a chance to go.  There are limited numbers.

 

We have done it a couple of times over the years and it's been fascinating at the markets and seeing Chef with a wad of notes to spend!

Has anyone gone shopping with the chef on a Canada/New England route? Did it happen in Halifax or Charlottetown? I will be on Quest in October.

There was a Shopping with the Chef in Quebec City offered on our Quest cruise last month.  We could not go as we had something else booked.  We were in Halifax and Charlottetown and it was not offered there.

Shopping with the Chef happens first thing in the morning, so be prepared to get up early and be ready to go.  That was the deal breaker for lazy us, saldy.

Met in restaurant at 9.15 am every time we have done it

We have done it many times.The last was in July. We had to meet at 8:45 It is fun but they normally only take 10 to 12 people.
