but our butler a week or so ago would often see me running to TS for a couple drinks and would stop me and say "Why don't you ask me to do this for you!?"

I had the staff in the Top Sail Lounge ask me why I kept coming to get a pot of hot water for the team we drank in our room.  Told them I did not want to be a bother.  Once the bartender refused to give it to me but had one of the wait staff carry it back to the room for me.

Yep, that tracks. After the first night we didn't argue with them sending our martinis up to dinner via a server (jaymala)

I noticed the flag in the background on your video's from your office.  What branch of the service were you in?  I can't remember if you ever mentioned that or not..

We have only been on Divina so the restaurant was on the other end of the ship from the lounge.  However, we'll be on Seascape later this month and something tells me a glass of champagne may be going up those stairs with me a few times.

That's actually a flag that flew on base in Afghanistan that a friend of mine who served over there sent me who fortunately didn't lose their life, but it changed in a pretty dramatic fashion while they were there.

I can't claim to be a veteran, simply respect and appreciate their service!

The champagne (NF at least) is readily available in the dining room. The one night I took a break from Oberon - we did NF and it was right there. 🙂

We find that the NF is very helpful while perusing the menu to decide upon food and then the corresponding wine. 🙂

This has happened to BCD many times. He always tries to "warn me" that he is not alone as he opens the stateroom door.

I usually have champagne pre-meal and with our starter and pick a red to go with my meals.

Another reason we seldom have room service -- my DW has to 'hide' in the bathroom when it's delivered and set out in the room.

That's me every morning when the coffee and Baileys arrives -- but that does not stop the standing order, of course. (And on Divina, the walk-in closet works equally well!)

Pretty much the same except dirty martinis instead of champagne ..I was totally trying to channel my cruise critic friends by doing the NF night ..and I enjoyed it 😁

We plan to put in a standing order for Coffee and Bailey's and hot water for tea.  It's just hard picking a time that we'll be awake and half dressed.  I guess that's what the bathrobes are for though.

I got the start with champagne idea from @Best Cat Mom so you can blame her. Don't do it every meal but some ..

We usually pick one time as our "usual" once we see the closing time for YC restaurant breakfast. Then, on days when things need to change, we'll stop by the concierge desk on the way back to the room after our rounds of nightcaps and give them an adjusted time for the next morning. They've always been able to accommodate.

I copied this from the MSC YC web site. "SIGNATURE DINING"

"Savor the flavors of exquisite specialty restaurants such as Butcher's Cut, Kaito Sushi & Teppanyaki, HOLA Tacos, and Ocean Cay."

"Elevate your dining experience with exclusive perks like priority reservation times, premium seating, and the luxury of a personal butler escort if you choose." Would also add that even the staff outside the Yacht Clubs do not like dealing with the clientele.

Here is a case to suggest the importance of a 'good' personal butler. We took advantage of our butler's suggestion to have him escort us the first evening to introduce us to the maitre d' as we wanted our own table reserved at a specific time every evening with the same waiters (this was our first time on a Seaship and the butler on Explora 1 suggested he escort us to dinner the first time as well for the same request and introduction to the maitre d'). We discovered after many cruises the importance of our butlers' suggestion. This suggestion of an escort by butler is even more valuable and important outside the Yacht Club venue. We rarely make a reservation at any specialty restaurant on the ships because we love the YC restaurant (not even to bother using our complimentary Diamond meal). We were seated at our favorite table when a couple were seated next to us and she was dying to complain to everyone in earshot about what had just happened to them. They had reservations at Butcher's Cut and made their own way and seated like any other passenger. There is no way they were differentiated as a YC guest to the staff or manager (maitre d'). Seated next to them was a family with unruly, loud children and they immediately asked for another table. They were refused. They pointed to another table across the room and the manager again refused. They got up and left. On the way out telling the manager they were going to return to the Yacht Club and to cancel their reservation. To CYA he calls the maitre d' of the YC to try to smooth things over. Yes, Arthur was our maitre d' and he stood and took the tongue lashing for the Butcher's Cut manager.

If one doesn't differentiate oneself from the crowd, one will be treated like the crowd .

Arthur is the BEST!

If they run out of NF, they bump up to a better brand, so drink up! 😁

Think you can arrange that to happen before we arrive?

( My current challenge is deciding which to nights to dine in the specialty restaurants.)

We usually have lunch so we don't miss a Yacht Club dinner. If we time it right, i can have lamb for both lunch and dinner. 🙂

Oberon is a Cabernet Sauvignon, kinda heavy on the tannins. NF is Nicolas Feuillatte champagne (French, so 'real' champagne). If they run out of NF, they bump up to a better brand, so drink up! 😁

Thank you.....will ask for NF....love prosecco so I want to try a premium champagne!

Looking over what I have for the latest YC Day 1 - 7 menu's  Day 3 and Day 5, attached, do not really appeal to us.  If what we have is the current sequence then we'll make our reservations for those two nights.

I understand about lunch vs dinner for the specialty restaurants.  Will definitely be as flexible as needed once we step aboard.

I understand that everyone has their own likes and dislikes. For example, I know a lot of people like the flavor of pumpkin, but the pumpkin risotto on Day 5 is something we would NEVER, EVER order. However, we do love the vitello tonnato and duck breast on that day's menu.

As for Day 3, the beef tartare is a no-to-be-missed item for us. Love it and the quail eggs that come with it. In fact, Glenn brought me an accompanying side dish of extra quail eggs on one of our cruises. Me, being the brat that I am, asked something like, "Who has the tiny hands to shell all those quail eggs?"

Keep in mind that you could have a starter that intrigues you in the Top Sail Restaurant and then go to your specialty dinner. Or ask them to save you some for the next day. The excellent service makes it so that you can probably have it all! 🙂

We have similar tastes - I love all those things you mentioned....but I also love the pumpkin. 🙂

I had planned to do exactly that with the Crabcake.  I had it on Divina and really liked it.  Mind you it was no Maryland Crab Cake but it was very crusty and not too much bread filling.   A little more Old Bay and it would have been up there!

We have a B2B and I expect the menu's to be repeated so if something does turn out to be something we could miss or don't want to miss, we can change the Days of the specialty reservation, or even switch to lunch, on the 2nd leg.

Just hope someone starts a live review, thinking of you specifically @Best Cat Mom, between now and the time we board to help with choices.
