KiwiIan Posted March 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2006 For those of you visiting Rotorua as a shore trip from Tauranga, we have been advised by Te Puia[formerly the Maori Arts and Cradts Institute or Te Whakarewarewa] that due to building development to Kiwi Bird house will be closed from the 21st March to the 26th April. All other activities at Te Puia will be operating as normal. If you want to see the kiwi bird during your visit the other options are at the KiwiHouse ar Rainbow Springs or the recently opened Kiwi Experinence [also at Rainbow Springs], the later giving you chance to see the birds without a glass partition. For those of you who may be thinking of visiting Waitomo Glow worm caves, then you can also see Kiwi at the Otorohanga Kiwi House, which you will pass through on the way to the caves. Hope this info helps, post if you need any more specific details on this or other NZ info from the Tauranga area. Regards Ian.
Jane110 Posted April 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2006 Great info Ian. I've been to the Glow Worm Caves and Otorohanga Kixi house and both are a "don't miss", IMHO.
