Gift Cards Available Onboard?

We booked our cruise with the Have It All package, and also have a fair amount of OBC from FCD's and the Shareholder Benefit.

 

Are beverage gift cards available onboard that we could purchase with our OBC for someone traveling with us in a separate cabin who does not have a beverage package?

Just off the Westerdam last week. I wanted to buy a beverage card onboard since I had alot of OBC. Could not do it. I asked 2 bars and then went to Guest Services. Nope.

Unlike Carnival, you cannot purchase gift cards onboard HAL.

There is a way to cover another cabins account but I don’t know if you can specify the amount.  I don’t know if you can use OBC though.

You may not be able to purchase a beverage card for them, but if you go to dinner at a specialty restaurant or book an excursion on board together, I have successfully been able to have the ship charge my account for their portion of the cost.

Along those lines, I should be able to charge their internet to my account, maybe? Or buy it for them?

You could have their tips charged to your cabin .

As with most things on Holland America, it will depend on who you ask and what ship you are on whether they let you do any of this. Another suggestion is that you could buy anything in the shops (for anyone) as long as you are in person to pay with your ship card that has the OBC. 
 

There is a slight difference between my suggestion of charging speciality dining meals that you participated in or excursions that you are participating in versus buying something for another cabin outright with nonrefundable OBC. 
 

On the Rotterdam last Fall, I asked if I could transfer some non refundable OBC from my account to my sister’s account (who was in the same cabin) and it was denied. Although not exactly the same thing, that is why I am skeptical they will let you use non refundable OBC to pay for daily gratuities or wifi for another cabin. But you never know. 
 

It only costs you a trip to guest services to see what they will allow you to do so I suggest trying.
