doctoranna Posted September 22 #1 Share Posted September 22 2 questions about St. John, New Brunswick: 1. Do the taxis take credit cards there? 2. We are planning to take a cab to Fallsview Park to see the Reversing Rapids. High tide on the day we are there is just after 2 PM. Can anyone tell me, do the rapids reverse right at high tide, or somewhat before the highest tide, and if somewhat before, how long before? In other words, how far in advance of high tide would we need to get to the park to see the reverse?
TS Von Posted Tuesday at 01:52 PM #2 Share Posted Tuesday at 01:52 PM Sorry you've had no local or personal experience shared here. I have no idea about the taxis. I have seen reversing tides, not in in this particular location, but elsewhere in Canada and the US (Alaska). My personal experience is that it happens somewhat gradually, and not on a set and defined schedule (it is after all, nature). I would suggest arriving at least 30 minutes before the high tide time chart . . . and expect to hang around at least another 30 minutes afterwards. I figured it was kind of a gradual thing, but had no idea how long a period of time it occurs over.
TheOldBear Posted Tuesday at 03:20 PM #4 Share Posted Tuesday at 03:20 PM back in 2008 I did a photo focused shore excursion that had two stops at the reversing falls - on rising and falling tides, with scenic village stops in between. I think the entire tour lasted about five hours.
