cruisingwiththekids Posted March 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Passports for the kids just came in the mail. I know that the front page is suppose to be signed. The kids are 7 and 10. The 7 year old can only print, but the 10 year old can "sign" (write her name in cursive). Do the kids need to write their names or do we need to sign the passports for them? johnql Posted March 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2006 From the State Dept.'s web site: My child is too young to sign his/her own passport. How do I sign my child's passport? In the space provided for the signature, the mother or father must print the child's name and sign their own name. Then, in parenthesis by the parent's name, write the word (mother) or (father) so we know who signed for the child. Based on what you said, your 10-yr-old should sign her name, but you can probably follow the above guideline for your younger kid.
caribbean dreams Posted March 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2006 WOW! glad you brought that up, i just received my 11 yr olds in the mail yesterday and had not even thought of that, i guess i will have her sign it herself. She was the last one that i took to apply for a passport but she received hers first. Its funny how they send them to different places to get proccessed, my DH's came from New Orleans, my DD's came from South Carolina and mine came from San Francisco, I wounder where my other 2 daughters passprts will come from. ckrobyn Posted March 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Our daughter did not need to sign her passport when it was issued ( she was 7 at the time) we are Canadian, so I'm not sure what the rules are for other countries?
