Can anyone tell me about how large the Sanctuary area on Deck 18 is? I recently booked a Sanctuary Balcony room for a trip in May, which includes access to this area. There are 215 total rooms in the Sanctuary classification, so 430 people total at double-occupancy. Curious as to how full it might get?

I think we won't really know for a couple more cruises, at least.  Up until now the sailings were under the old Sanctuary set up as well as cooler weather.  Now that we a lot more folks having access and it being hotter weather, we can get an idea of how crowded it's going to be up there.  I will say that the pool is wonderful!!!

Maybe start a new thread in a couple of weeks with that as the title so we can get direct feedback.

Warning:  As of now, there is NO shade in the entire area except for some from the main building at the front.  I would be concerned being up there in the Caribbean sun all day.

So far it’s been working great for me.  We’re aboard right now (presently docked at Amber Cove), and the bar lines on sea days have sometimes been pretty epic (the ship is completely full and very busy), but my orders with OceanNow have usually shown up within about 10-15 minutes.  Your message reminded me that my drink was empty, so I ordered one to see how long it took - for the first time it just didn’t work.  After 45 minutes it said “delivered” but emphatically was not.  This is the first time I’ve ever had it not work.  Usually it’s 15 minutes or less.

I’m sitting back on the wakeview terrace, but the bar here doesn’t open until 10am, and the bartenders have really struggled to know who arrived when, so the assertive new arrivals tend to get served first while those of us quietly waiting…. wait.  Their tablet knows who we are, but not apparently how long we’ve been standing there.

We're boarding in a few days, so any fresh intel from North American sailings is great. Two immediate questions for you, if you don't mind: I've seen reports from the European sailings that the Sun is very hot, i.e. almost as if the air conditioning was acting up. How do you find the ship now that it's in the Caribbean? Can the cabins at least be kept cool? Also, AFAIK this new ship has kettles/coffee machines  in some rooms, and apparently kettles are available from the room steward upon request. Any chance you'd know if kettles are still available upon request now that she's in the Caribbean? Thanks very much, and have a great trip ;o)

Question; What is everybody’s experience with the medallions? I have been quite intrigued by them, especially since I have a sailing booked on the first of March. I have never sailed Princess before and was just curious.

I am a huge fan for the Medallions. I have the silver bracelet (birthday gift) and the gold necklace (late night online purchase). I’m thinking about purchasing one of the clips to use in port inside of my purse so I don’t look like such a tourist… OK, I just love to shop.

I love how the Medallion unlocks my cabin door and has food and drinks delivered to me. But most of all I really love how it helps me find my friends when I am lost, ha ha ha.

I saw photos somewhere showing that they have added umbrellas and cushier lounges. I wish I could remember where I saw the photos. It was probably on FB somewhere.

That would be nice!  Will be on the lookout before I book the Sanctuary again.  The days of being in the sun, even for a short amount of time, are over.

I totally understand. I doubt they will let me in due to having an interior cabin, but if they will let me look around, I will try to post some photos for you if you would like.

I had no idea that you could see your travel party, that’s super cool! Thanks!

I saw it on Facebook too, see screenshot. Was in the Sun Princess group, not my photos, credit to a lady currently on board. IMO kind of hideous choice of umbrella design, but it does the job of blocking sun and is appreciated nonetheless. I just hope they add enough umbrellas!

There is a good view from above on the jogging track..  I’ll see if I can grab a pic on my next walk.

We haven’t had trouble keeping our stateroom cool, though we do keep it turned way down.  Otherwise in the public areas it does seem to get progressively warmer as you climb towards the lido deck.  I’ve noticed warm stairwells multiple times.  Yesterday it was so unpleasantly hot outside I took refuge in the dome, which was not as cool as would have liked, but it was a welcome relief.  There are few places I would call objectively cold.

A coffee setup with kettle is available for ocean now delivery under stateroom amenities in the app.  It is not normally in the room, and even an ice bucket is strictly on request.

Perfect, thanks very much. The most important thing for us is the ability to keep the cabin cool at night for sleeping, so it sounds like we're OK. Thanks also for the tip on the coffee setup, we'll watch for it as soon as we board and can access Ocean Now.

I had never had a problem until my cruise on the Sun this year. I was basically without an ability to get in my room and play in the casino for 24 hours. It took forever for them to figure it out. Also, I had to point out to them that they could give me a key card to get in my room. I told them if the room steward could get in then surely they could come up with something for me. Not impressed - also they kept telling me that someone would meet me at the room as if I didn’t know how to use it. The lack of casino play impacted my come back offer, needless to say I was pretty unhappy.

That’s awful. That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of that happening.
