dst Posted March 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Your best bet is to go to the Ports section of the boards.....
jetskier Posted March 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2006 In Progresso, you are docking. You will have to take a free bus in order to get off the pier. There are shops at the pier and there are more where they will drop you off in Progresso. If you go one block further and three blocks to the left you will be on the beach. You can also take a local bus into Merida. This only cost us $2.50pp round trip. The bus leaves every 15 minutes. In Cozumel, you are tendering but can end up at one of four piers depending on the port schedule. You can easily take a taxi into the downtown area or if you are wanting to go to a beach such as Paradise Beach. Dave

DEL67 Posted March 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2006 We enjoyed our visit to to Dzibulchan (sp?) while in Progresso. We hired a cab at the pier which took us there and waited for us. You can also go to Chichan Itza which is much larger, but we did not want to take the long bus ride. We like to snokel in Cozumel. We usually snorkel from the shore at Chakanaub Park, but plan to take a boat trip to the off-shore reefs during our visit next month since the reefs close to shore were damaged by the hurricane. On one visit we took the Mexican Cusine Cooking class at Playa Mia which we enjoyed.
