CherieB Posted April 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2006 You are at the mercy of the cruise line, yes they can 'screw' ya & there is not a thing you can do about it. I paid big buck to go on Princess, yes was a very nice trip, they even gave me a whole 25 bucks for missing one of the stops. The Sensation, omg, never again. When my husband won't eat the food, it has to be bad. We gained weight by eating Dramamine. Walking through the dining room with food and about fall on people sitting! They released all 2000 of us at one time to hunt luggage & wait in LONG/HOT lines to board one of the 3 buses taking people back to the parking garage in NO. Carnival needs to get their act together! But they needed to get us off there so they could clean up for the next 2000 payers. The pools were empty 2 1/2 days of the 5. Empty when you get on, filled next day at sea. Drained at about 2 pm the day before you come back so they can clean them. I guess I need to learn to fly so I can go sit on a beach for a week instead of on a ship in the middle of the ocean with nothing to do but drink (the beer & mudslides I took in my luggage). *CruiseFan* Posted April 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2006 Ooookie dokie. You're very correct, cruising isn't for everyone and while I'm sure that your trip was nothing short of horrific from the sounds of it, don't count it out completely. You had one really bad experience, but if you've loved it before I think you can again :) Best of luck!

F5Loar Posted April 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2006 There are 2 types of people in this world; cruisers and non-cruisers. To find out which one you are you need to take a cruise. I guess you found out. If you couldn't find food fit to eat on a Carnival or Princess cruise best you stay on those land vacations.
stlrboo Posted April 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2006 WOW! Thats quite an experience.. Food that bad..?? Guessing we won't be meeting up on a cruise anytime soon.., but if you can make it, there may be a few cabins left on the RCI Jewel of the Seas in 19 days.. Then they go to explain about Carnival's Sensation. Sorry to hear about the disappointing cruise. I find it hard to believe that no food on the ship was to your liking. To each their own I guess. CRUISING ISN'T FOR EVERYONE! If you hate being at the "mercy" of the cruise lines, I can't wait to hear of your "wonderful" experience with the airlines. We were delayed for 9 hours sitting in an airport and our family didn't get "jack" for our inconvenience. Thank goodness it was on the way back from our cruise (which was just as wonderful as the previous 21).

Funny how one's perception changes, hm? People come on here and accuse those of us of being "cheerleaders" when we defend a particular line. But when crap like this pops up, what else should someone do? Allow those create lies and let it go or point it out? I tend to point it out. selucrey Posted April 3, 2006 #17 Share Posted April 3, 2006 From the Op's past posts I have gathered that they sailed on the Sensation in 5/05 and the Princess was prior to that.
Nliedel Posted April 3, 2006 #18 Share Posted April 3, 2006 Cruising is not for the OP. Actually unless you are a flexible person who enjoys new experiences travel may not be for you. In general travel is something that you need to take with a grain of salt. You are at the mercy of others. If you want guarantees stay home and vacation in your backyard. I am not being mean, just honest.
meluvtogocruise Posted April 3, 2006 #19 Share Posted April 3, 2006 One thing I can agree on is that Carnival shows little respect to their valued customers when it comes to getting on and off the ship. mel

Rare finoky Posted April 3, 2006 #21 Share Posted April 3, 2006 I wished you had warned me earlier. Now I am in the penalty period and wouldn't get any of my money back, crap. Guess I will have to go on the cruise anyway. At least I will lose a few pounds from not having to eat the horrible food.
Nliedel Posted April 3, 2006 #22 Share Posted April 3, 2006 OK while I get the OP posted a long time after cruising they do have as much right to come here and complain as others who love the various lines and think they can do no wrong. A complaint can be valid and no line is perfect. I would hate for people to only want to come here who had a wonderful experience, that would be as valid as the people who post it was all horrible. They sailed in May 05 apparently which pretty much made me re-think my nice post. They're entitled to their opinion, but my opinion of them is = Troll. And I'm entitled that that! :p

They sure do! Which is why asked why they were back just to complain, I like to understand the logic/purpose. Hopefully they will respond and explain their logic, and give us more details (not personal ones, I never ask for that, just the logic)
jw4jg1mg2eg1 Posted April 3, 2006 #25 Share Posted April 3, 2006 I'm really sorry to hear about your bad experiences. But, ya know what? If you read the papers or watch the news, people are having bad experiences all the time in all different kinds of traveling. Surely there were some good times while you were on your cruise. Don't let one bad experience keep you from doing something you enjoy.
