London tours. show tickets, restaurants

Recommended Posts

Hi! Well, we are finally booked for August 20, Golden Princess to British Isles and Western Europe.

We are also going to be staying in London for 2 nights at the Renaissance.

Now starts the hard (but fun) part.......

Can anyone recommend a tour company for London???

We are a group of 5. That includes 3 83 year old seniors, so in/out of the tube is probably not an option.

I'm sure that in our 1 full day, we will want to see as many of the standard London sights as possible. (Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, etc....). WE would like to book this before we go.

Also, is there any place that we can prepurchase show tickets for London.

Anything else that anyone wants to add (restaurants, etc....) would be great.

Thanks,

Eric

HI,

We were in London for week after our TA cruise on RCI's Jewel last year and still didn't see everything we wanted but you can probably pack a lot of sightseeing in the two days you have.

Here are some links I gathered last year before we went about London that might help you.

The first link was a Yahoo group site I set up for the cruise where the other links came from.

We mainly used the tube because it was the most convenient and was included in the London Pass we got. We went to the big museums, London Tower and Tower Bridge, saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham palace, Harrods (it was right down the street from where we stayed), Globe theater, Trafalger Square, Westminster, St Paul's, House of Parliament, etc. The only organized tour we took was to Stonehenge where we got to actually go among the stones after the site had officially closed for the day. It was one of the highlights of our stay.

Have a great next cruise and stay in London.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just returned from eight nights in London. We used the tube to access the many sights, though not a good choice for the seniors in your group unless they can handle escalators that move rather quickly. Through our hotel, we booked a full day's tour to Windsor Castle, lunch in a country pub, Stonehenge, and Bath through Premium Tours. This company also offers other day tours to the Tower of London, and Westminster. They picked us up at our hotel, near Marble Arch, but evening drop offs were at central locations, an easy walk back to the hotel.

Our hotel concierge was also able to obtain theatre tickets. You may have to use a cab to get to the theaters - cabs are very expensive. Museums are a great value - free!

Pub meals are relatively reasonable for lunch or dinner.
