Changing my Delta tickets to a cheaper flight?

I was thinking of changing my tickets so I could leave 2 days earlier. The rate is now cheaper than what I had originally paid. I understand I have to pay a $50 fee to change each ticket but what about the fare that is cheaper. Do I get a refund for that?

Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. You will probably get a voucher, NOT a refund.

I called Delta. It would cost me $94.00 pp. $50 to change the ticket and another $44.00 for the difference in price. I thought I would save. My original ticket was $289 RT. What I saw on Delta was one way $129. They calculated an extra $44.00.
