Globaliser Posted April 11, 2006 #26 Share Posted April 11, 2006 I have so much sympathy to those that went through that awful night -- and still cannot believe only one person died!!It's a testament to how well the fire precautions and safety drills work. It may be of interest to read the Technical Fire Discussion thread about these photos.
chasetf Posted April 12, 2006 #27 Share Posted April 12, 2006 Sure, but the Pride's "open windows" were in that storm absolutely close to the water line: Anyway, it was horrible for the shipyard and my hometown (and NCL...) and I think, open windows on the Star will not be extremly(!) dangerous but dangerous enough and not really funny for the workers onboard. Have a look on the Pride: http://www.ship-photo.de/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=996 http://www.ship-photo.de/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=997 http://www.ship-photo.de/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=998 http://www.ship-photo.de/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=999 Kind regards Helge Thanks for sharing the pictures. Much better than the one I would scare up....;)

fg_hb Posted April 14, 2006 #30 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Hello to all fans of the Star Princess, yesterday I was in Bremerhaven again to see if there is a progress in the repair of the ship. On the ship it's very busy and I heard that more then 1,000 workers are employed for repairing the Princess. Some photos I uploaded to http://www.essorg.de/sp to share my visions with you. I redesigned the page and I hope it's easier to see the photos. Frank

RWKY Posted April 14, 2006 #32 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Frank, I think I can speak for everyone who is booked on the Star later this year - THANKS for posting these pictures. It would be great if you are able to update every week or so - what a great vantage point you have to watch this great lady get nursed back to health. We are certainly looking forward to our December cruise on her. It was hard for me to tell - is she in dry or wet dock? Princess has a huge task to get her ready in 30 days +/- - I am betting they will accomplish this task - but it is by no means a certainty - I am guessing even Princess and the Shipyard would admit to that today. Thanks again Frank!
aggieastrosfan Posted April 14, 2006 #33 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Frank, Thank you so much for the pictures! I'm fascinated with how they're going to repair the ship, and the work-in-progress pictures are much appreciated. Keep 'em coming!

fg_hb Posted April 14, 2006 #36 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Hello again an thank you for your and all the other thanks :) . It was hard for me to tell - is she in dry or wet dock? The Princess is not in a dock. It's moored at the pier of the shipyard. I have uploaded a new picture taken Apr. 9 showing the other not damaged side of the Princess Princess has a huge task to get her ready in 30 days +/- - I am betting they will accomplish this task - but it is by no means a certainty - I am guessing even Princess and the Shipyard would admit to that today. It's a hard job to do for the workers but also for planning such a huge repair. But the shipyard has many experience to do such jobs. Another difficulty is that Queen Elisabeth 2 is anounced for service within the next three weeks (I don' know the arriving date now). Normally the service should be done in Hamburg, but the shipyard and the dock is busy with the repair of Queen Mary 2. I hope to upload some Photos of "Freedom Of The Seas" which will arrive in Hamburg next Monday. Bye Frank

fg_hb Posted April 15, 2006 #41 Share Posted April 15, 2006 Hi again :) today I went to Bremerhaven again, because I read in the Newspaper, that the Pride Of Hawaii will come for an emergency repair, because she faild the second inspection for delivery. I created a new thread in the NCL Forum. Here's the link http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=332081 Being there I also made some new photos of the Princess. Although the workers are busy, there is not much progress to see. But beware that the time between the photos are only two days. You can find the photos of the Princess as usual at http://www.essorg.de/sp Photos of the Pride Of Hawaii can be found at http://www.essorg.de/poh Until the next time Frank

To look at her was tremendous although she needs some makeup. I created a new thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=6393797 in the right board.
