larablair Posted April 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2006 Can we exchange Travelers Checks for US dollars while on board? Is there a service charge? Thanks, Jeanine
kstemple3 Posted April 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2006 Yes you can. And there is no service charge. But the easiest way is to use a credit card. In the ports, you get the best exchange rate on the day your purchase is charged while you don't get such a good exchange rate for cash. Also, use your credit card to get cash in the casino to have cash for tips, small purchases, etc. It's recorded on your bill as a purchase and there is no extra charge for a cash advance on your credit card. larablair Posted April 12, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted April 12, 2006 Thanks for the info. I need the cash to pay our guide in St. Pete. Will feel more comfortable carrying Travelers checks for most of the cruise, rather than cash. Jeanine
trecker Posted April 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2006 If you are going to pay by cash in St. Petersburg be aware that they will only take new looking currency and will probably refuse to take any bills that look worn or used.
