Memory foam pad

You can ask your cabin steward for a foam topper for your bed. It is about an inch thick with sort of concentric circles. It did help to make the bed less hard, but I am still looking forward to the "new bedding" that is supposedly coming to all RCI ships.

Memory foam is the generic term for "tempurpedic" -- the commercials are full of it -- "used by NASA astronauts" yadda yadda. It's a pretty dense foam and is popular in pillows and mattress toppers in addition to entire mattresses. Some people love it, others detest it. Usually there is no in between. A queen size memory foam topper is available at Sam's Club for about $100.

An egg crate topper is made of foam similar to what you have in your living room furniture. It's the standard foam you've probably seen hundreds of time. These types of toppers usually have little dimples in them, making it look like an an egg carton without the eggs in it. It does provide some additional cushion. Cost for one of these is under $20 and they are available at KMart, Target, WalMart, etc.

Go to Ebay and do a search on "memory foam pad". You will find hundreds of listings with pads of varying thickness and density. Thinner, less dense pads are realtively inexpensive. Thicker, dense pads can cost hundreds of dollars. You can even get memory foam mattreses that cost thousands of dollars. The Ebay listings should give you a good idea of what these things are.
