vesw01 Posted April 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2006 We are thinking of doing an Alaskan Cruise in 2008 and I wasn't sure how far in advance you can book - I know that they cruises book quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what ship to take (or maybe if another cruiseline does it better?)... I know that I would want to do a balcony. I am also curious what price range would be a decent (I have no concept what is a good price). I would appreciate any help you could provide !! Thanks a million Victoria
Darkkskyzz Posted April 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2006 I don't have any personal experience....but my grandmother just did her very first cruise :p and it was an Alaskan. She went on the Sapphire Princess with a balcony room. She said it was perfect from start to finish. Judging by the pictures etc that she brought home it was a beautiful ship. I don't know if this will help you or not. :)
luvz2run2000 Posted April 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2006 We booked our 2007 Alaska cruise in late February, two days after they opened for bookings. When I went to the CCL website that day to check it said "You cruise in 500 days". Over on the Alaska boards there are people frustrated that their favorite cruise lines have still not opened up for 2007 bookings yet. If you want CCL, I'd say start checking in mid February. CCL was definitely the first to open bookings for 2007. If you want another line I guess you just have to check weekly (or daily) to see. If you use a TA you could have them do it for you. This will be my third trip to Alaska. 1st time on a line is no longer in business. CCL southbound a few years ago and now northbound next year. Aft balconies (cat 8c) afe going for $1569 today. We paid $1200 with our military discount.

Thanks a million Victoria You can book as soon as they're available. Ok, for the serious answer: I booked my upcoming cruise around Feb. 14, 2005. It sails in 28 days (as of this typing). So that can give you a general idea.... :)
