tangerinebunny Posted April 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2006 I just came across this. It's now possible to rent a car at either of Seattle's piers and return it to SeaTac. http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20060412005630&newsLang=en
tnkrbell13 Posted April 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2006 This is what we decided to do on our disembarkation day, as we have an 8:00pm flight. We have reservations through Hertz, but I will check prices now for Thrifty too! Thanks! ETA: Cheaper by about $20! Thanks!![/
Scrumpy Posted April 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2006 I couldn't get the link to work. Can I assume that there is a Thrifty rental but not a Hertz from the other post? Help, please! thanks, Scrumpy
tangerinebunny Posted April 13, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 13, 2006 I know nothing.:o But the article I found on google news says it's an exclusive arrangement. Why don't you try google? Added convenience for growing number of cruise ships passengers extending their stay in Seattle area Cruise ship passengers arriving or departing through Seattle during the 2006 cruise season now have a convenient, on-the spot resource for rental cars through Thrifty Car Rental. Through an exclusive arrangement with the Port of Seattle's cruise ship terminal operator, Thrifty will operate rental counters at Seattle's two cruise ship terminals located at Pier 30 and Pier 66. With the completion of the rental paperwork upon disembarking, rental customers take a short shuttle ride to Thrifty's auto rental center at Pier 48 for the pick-up of their vehicle. For added convenience, rentals from these two locations may be returned to Thrifty's Sea-Tac Airport location with no added drop charge. Conversely, for passengers arriving through Sea-Tac International Airport, Thrifty also waives drop charges for renting at their airport location and dropping off their vehicle at Pier 48. Thrifty also provides those passengers with a complimentary shuttle to their cruise ship terminal.
tnkrbell13 Posted April 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Hertz actually has you take a cab to the nearest location which is about 2-3 miles away, and they re-imburse you for the cab-fare(up to $8). So Thrifty will be much easier, and it is about $20 cheaper. I found it to be about $60-100 more to rent at Sea-Tac and drop off at the pier. So we will just take a taxi.
