Rental Car or Taxis in Vancouver?

Recommended Posts

Hello. We are spending a few days in Vancouver before a cruise. I am wondering if I should rent a car or just use taxis to see the sites. I've never been to Vancouver so I am looking for all opinions on the advantages/disadvantages.

I grew up in Vancouver & return quite often. It depends on where you're staying. I have family out in the suburbs of Vancouver & the best way for me to get around Downtown Vancouver is using Mass Transit. Our system is outstanding, cost is good. Downtown Vancouver is a "walking city" & you can get from point a to point b very easily. Taxis are readily available & very good too.

My humble opinion, which ever will suit your pocketbook. Disadvantage with mass transit - timetables. Plan your activities accordingly, keep in mind when buses/LRT (Light Rapid Transit - similar to a "subway") are running. Parking is available but not cheap.

Hope this helps!
