crazidude1400 Posted April 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2006 When you pay the surcharge to get in, can you still order as much as you want, like the dining rooms. For instance, 3 different main courses?
Sue L Posted April 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2006 The surcharge will be put on your S&S card. You order 1 appetizer, entree, dessert not unlimited like dining room and believe me the portions are very generous and you don't need to order extra.Btw well worth the extra $$ Sue

Mack704 Posted April 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2006 A couple of weeks ago, DW and I went to Scarletts, the supper club on the Valor. You're offered two choices. The first is a tasting menu by some famous French chef. Seven small courses. Or, from the regular menu, you may order one appetizer, one soup, one salad, one entre', and one desert. And trust me, it was plenty of food. You won't need multiple entre's. But if your not happy with your choice you may send it back and get something else, just like any upscale restaurant. They want you to be pleased. And, imho, it's well worth the 30 bucks. The food is many notches above the main dining room food. Harvey
LABecca Posted April 17, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Honestly, I don't know if you can order 3 entrees. All I can say is the portions are huge! I left absolutely stuffed! If you see more than one item that you would like to try and can't decide which one to chose, it doesn't hurt to ask if you can have both. The worst they can tell you is no. Or if you order something and it comes out looking completely different than what you "thought" you were ordering "which is completly possible in (fancy) restaurants" ask if you can have something else. I really don't understand why nice restaurants insist on making the menu choices so hard to read. Honestly half the time it's a crap shoot. I'm no idiot either. I consider myself a well rounded individual. I watch the occational cooking show. It's gotten to the point where I carry my pocket pc with me to restaurants so I can look up food terms on the food network website.

serene56 Posted April 17, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Yes, you can order as much as you want, they will have a regular menu with appetizers, entrees, desserts etc....and order as you please for the same cover charge and you will get the bill at the end of your meal...... this is not true for the supper clubs. you get one appetizer, one entree, one dessert etc. depends on the waitress if you can have two appetizers. Both times I was told no but it has been reported here that some people got two. The food here is differnt in portion size compared to the dining room. I mean once choice is a 24 oz porter house steak. the lobster is 12oz. (compared to the dining room at 3-4 oz.) you wont need more then one of each-- its soo much food they need to roll people out of there. if you do want two entrees you will be charged for 2 entrees at 30 each

For instance, 3 different main courses? No way, you order only 1 main entree and when I asked for alittle more Yukon Gold Mash potatos which is a side items, she acted like it wasnt included and kinda made a fuss about it, I could hear it in her voice. The Yukon Gold mash potatos are very creamy and she only poured one scoop. The waitress on the Valor that served us was pretty pissed about just being there I guess that night. When I told her that I needed a copy of the Menu so I can post it with my review on Cruise Critic, her attitude changed and everyone came over to our table to greet us and to ensure all was well. People that sat closeby thought we were celebrites LOL.:D I would recommend wearing your nice blue Cruise Critic Polo Shirt to Supper Club. TennisLover Posted April 18, 2006 #14 Share Posted April 18, 2006 We went to the supper club on the Valor last year; this year, we went to Harry's on the Liberty. There is PLENTY of food when you order one of each course. Plus, it's very rich, so it's not likely you can eat more. They really give you a lot (quite a contrast to the dining room, where some of the appetizers were barely more than a taste). The quality of the food is better and the atmosphere is really nice (very quiet and the best part is that it's not rushed). In Harry's there was quiet, live music. There might have been on the Valor, but I don't remember. Worth the extra charge for one night, IMO.
serene56 Posted April 18, 2006 #15 Share Posted April 18, 2006 Fred-- thats such a truth about wearing cruise critic stuff-- just the lanyard got us good with lots of crew. Service was always above par way better then expected. I wear my cruise critic lanyard on all cruises. I cant imagine the crew being unfriendly if that wasnt worn though. dclark Posted April 18, 2006 #16 Share Posted April 18, 2006 I have been to the club on the Glory twice. No, you can't get extra main entrees! But, you can get a few other things "extra" if you ask, like soup or an extra side dish. My wife was shocked when I asked for a side of their mushroom gravy to go with my Yukon mash potatoes. I said "Hey, I want to see what they taste like!" Oh, the gravy was good! Doggie bags? No, they'll put the leftovers on a plate with a plastic dome over it, like they do in the dining room. Take it and put in your room frig. Hey, don't laugh- cold leftover lobster tail, eaten on the balcony makes for a wonderful breakfast!

fdwt994 Posted April 27, 2006 #23 Share Posted April 27, 2006 We're doing the Eastern itinerary on Valor 5/7. What night should we consider going to Scarlett's? I'm wondering if we shouldn't go on formal nights, because perhaps the food in the main dining rooms is not to be missed (Lobster, prime rib, etc)? Do they have the main dining rooms menu posted in the vicinity of where you make your reservations for Scarlett's so you can make an informed decision? I was planning on looking for main dining room menus here, but I recently saw mention that the menus are changing. Thanks!
