Should I be worried about safety?

I just read a post about Belize that was so scary. We have booked to go cavetubing and am worried about our safety from criminals.

 

Has anyone been attacked on a cave tubing trip?

 

How do the guides keep you safe?

Went to Belize on Carnival Miracle...booked cave tubing through Action Belize. No problems...went in a van with another family of four...8 people total. Driver was great...guide at the cave was great. We felt safe!!

If you have cave tubing booked you will be fine.....it is beautiful and you will enjoy it....

 

Scary to me would be going off on your own in Belize....I would never do it...

Wandering around (outside of the port area) on your own (or better yet sending teenage girls off on their own like some person did) is probably not a great idea but any organized tour would be fine. We have been in Belize twice and NEVER felt unsafe. It's like many other places - use a little common sense (like not sending young girls off on their own) and you will be fine. Wandering around on your own in the port area is fine.
