LVScooby Posted April 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2006 A week before we sailed on the NCL Star I booked two 75 minute couple's massages at Krystal Puerto Vallarta for my fiance and I as well as my sister and her husband. I requested 3:00 or 3:30 and they sent back a confirmation for 3:30. We had also booked the canopy tour on the ship for 9:30. We ended up having to cancel the canopy tour because NCL kept moving our departure time back. When they told us it would be after 11:00, while on the pier mind you, we decided to cancel and had to go through that fiasco with them, since we wanted to be sure to get the massages I booked for us. We decided to walk over to Krystal to spend the day since the confirmation email indicated we could utilize their facilities without a surcharge. We had no problem getting in, but since it was almost noon, the place was packed and we couldn't find a place to settle in. So, off to the spa to see if we could by chance get accommodated a couple hours early. We talked with the representative that was sitting at a table on the patio in front of the spa entrance. I identified myself and she immediately recognized my name and then says, "your appointment isn't until 5:00". After just cancelling the canopy tour to make the 3:30 appointment, my blood pressure skyrocketed. On the outside I kept my cool since there could have been a legitimate mistake. So she proceeds to act like our appointments are logged in her scheduler for 5:00. (In my email I indicated what ship we were on and what time we were departing...5:30) I called her bluff and looked directly looked at her scheduler. Not only was my name listed at 3:30, she had two stickies on the page. One was covering half of the other and I saw my name on the bottom sticky. I lifted the first sticky note and exposed the one with my name indicating an appointment for 4 people at 3:30. After asking her if we could possibly get in and told no, all I could do was turn around and walk away as I didn't want to spend the night in a Mexican jail. Cruisegoer Posted April 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2006 Why didn't you go up a level? I'm sure the person you spoke with wasn't the end-all-be-all at the Krystal. Sometimes you have to "be aggressive, be be aggressive!"
spocruiser Posted April 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Very sorry to hear of your experience. Such an event can certainly put a damper on the day. We had the opposite experience. Upon arrival, we walked over, found the pool area and I asked about massages at an outdoor desk for activities. The woman picked up the phone, made a call and a man came down. He identified himself as "Leo" and pulled out a clipboard. I explained I was interested in massages and at my request, he signed my wife and I up for the "Four hands" massage at 1:30 and 3:00 (PV time). I had considered the couples massage, which has gotten rave reviews, but my wife and I wanted one of us to be within sight of our boys while they were in the pool. I gave Leo a $20 deposit towards the massages (at his request) and he marked it on the schedule. He gave us advice as to where to go to the center of town (asked the cab driver for the cathedral) and he showed us how to get to the front of the hotel (the Krystal grounds are extensive). He could not have been nicer. I tried to tip him and he declined, saying he was the owner. When we returned, everything went as scheduled. The massages were great. A nice clean, professional setting. Two massage therapists at once, a very unique experience and a great afternoon (the pool area is spectacular).
LVScooby Posted April 25, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 25, 2006 pure spam.... the treatments are on location! What part of Spokane?
spocruiser Posted April 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2006 pure spam.... the treatments are on location! LVScooby; Perhaps you need to read a little closer before you characterize someone else's post as spam. You are correct the treatments are on site. I had mine in the small building dedicated for massages, located a short distance away from the main pool area on the edge of the property next to the beach. My wife was escorted to a larger main building (I didn't follow them as I was getting back to our children at the pool) as the rooms were full where I had mine. Nowhere in my post does it say we went off-site for treatment... "Upon arrival, we walked over..." - We arrived in port at 9:00 a.m. P.V. time. "...he signed my wife and I up for the "Four hands" massage at 1:30 and 3:00 (PV time) - this left us four hours to sightsee, so we went downtown. "When we returned, everything went as scheduled" Again, sorry your experience was poor, but they took very good care of us. What part of Spokane? Actually... Liberty Lake, just east of Spokane. Sandy R Posted April 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Like Spocruiser, this past March, my DH has his massage inside the dedicated massage center. Because the rooms were full, I was escorted to one of the hotel's 2 bedroom villas. Each bedroom was set up with a massage table and necessary massage items, for overflow clients. Never saw the room my DH used but I can tell you the villa was wonderful. BTW... we came early and the massage center accommodated us by moving our reservations up. After the massages, we used the pool facilities. Everyone was extremely professional. I recommend them highly and would definitely use them again.
