who had been on the Norwegian Sea?

We went on it twice and loved it :D . It was the first cruise for myself and my DH, after which we went to Alaska on the Sun with our kids. Following that trip, we were glad to get another trip on the Sea before she left the fleet -- and I'd happily go on her again if she was still sailing for NCL.

We didn't have small kids with us -- our kids were 21 and 19 at the time -- but they enjoyed it too. My son made the comment that in someways he preferred the Sea to the Sun, even though the decor wasn't as attractive. We thought she was a very enjoyable ship.

We were on the SEA in April of '04 and had a great cruise. We had my daughter 15 and her girlfriend with us on that cruise and they had a very good cruise. They still chat with friends they made on that cruise. There was basketball, ping pong and a very tiny arcade to keep them busy.....along with the pool, hot tub and excellent pizza.

DH and I went on the Sea in 2000 and loved it, too!!! We went in October, but found quite a few kids doing different games together. One night at dinner they were on a scavenger hunt and they resourcefully came to the line we had made for our late seating (before the days of freestyle!!) in order to get as many signatures on their list as possible. It looked like lots of fun and since then my own children have done the same as recently as January on our Princess cruise. Not sure wen OP went on the Sea, but we found the shows and activities along with the itinerary to be great. We, too, would go on the ship again if it were here--especially if it went to Roatan!:D

Was on the Sea in 2004. Loved it. It was my first cruise with NCL. Call me crazy, but for me it was the perfect size-large enough to have all the usuall cruise stuff (casino, theater, pool , a few lounges) but small enough to provide an intimate cruise with excellent service. That's why I'm perfectly happy to be sailing the Majesty in December.

Kevin was the CD when we sailed, and he was one of the best. Great guy. Is he still with NCL? Pretty sure his last name is Warner.

I've sailed on the Norwegian Sea many times.

It's not retired, the ex Norwegian Sea is now called the Superstar Libra, sailing from Malta during the winter and Mumbai during the summer.

You can still book a cruise on her......

We were on the ship, then named Seaward, in 1992. It was our second cruise, but our first 7-nighter. What a wonderful time we had! There was a midnight buffet every night. Sometimes it was set up outdoors, but often it was on the corridor that ran between the two main dining rooms. I was -- and still am -- amazed by our cabin. It was tiny, yet I thought the cushions that were flipped up out of the way in the evening to give more sleeping room were the coolest. Formal night was formal back then. We still have the formal photo we took on the cruise -- it's still framed and displayed on a shelf just a few feet from where I now sit. My DH was in a tuxedo, and I had a black and gold dress -- and I had black gloves, too. Goodness, we were so young then. I recall that one evening, there was a hypnotist as entertainment. He got one man to pretend he was Maxwell Smart (dialing his shoe), and another to do a partial striptease. Another evening, there was a production of "Singin' in the Rain" that was the grandest show I've ever seen aboard a ship. There was actually a waterfall. Amazing!

How things have changed since then -- some for the better, some not so much so. Yet, we had a glorious time on our Seaward cruise... now 14 years ago.

We sailed the Norwegian Sea in the summer of 2002. 1/3 of the ship had no a/c for the entire cruise, which unfortunately included our cabin.... my wife along with other passengers got a serious skin infection from the hot tub, and we thought the food at the Big Apple Cafe was horrible.

All in all we were not impressed with this ship whatsoever!

We were on the Seaward in 1988, her first year. We had the best time, and have never laughed so hard and so often in one week in my life. It got us hooked on cruising. The cabins were tiny; we had an inside on the lowest deck. We sailed the western Caribbean a week after hurricane Gilbert, which hit every island we went to. I have the fondest memories of that cruise.

Electricron you got it wrong again. The Superstar Libra is sailing out of Mumbai during the fall, winter, and spring, and during India's monsoon summer season is sailing out of Malta. A repositioning cruise from Mumbai to Malta or vice a versa would be wonderful.

I went on the Norwegian Sea before it stopped cruising. I have to say it was pretty terrible because everything was 21 or older and they didn't do anything for kids. Have any of you gone on it?

Since the ship left NCL almost a year ago- this is really late. I think you just don't like NCL. You are entitled to but enough already. The Sea was once ship of the year. Times change. If you had done some research before getting on the ship you would have had a better idea of what to expect.

Besides being 21 or older(what ever that means) was the food bad? was the pool closed? Were the ports 21 year or older. It just wasn't for you. I would stay away from Oceania too. It seems you are more the Carnival type- that is why they have more than one cruise line.

The newer NCL ships built recently are more kid friendly.PS we had a great time on the Sea. and it was the cruise that went to Canada instead of Bermuda.

My first ever cruise was on the (then) Seaward, for our honeymoon in September, 1991. We could not have loved it more! We took friends along on the same ship in July 1995. She was looking a little bit worn by then, but the 4 of us had another FABULOUS time.

We just sailed a few months ago on Carnival Glory, and although it is a nice ship, etc, we didn't have half as much fun as we had on the Seaward.

I will likely never sail on her again, but she holds a special place in my heart.

My family and I went on the Sea a few years ago. It was a great itinerary - Boston, Martha's Vineyard, Bar Harbour, Halifax and Newport. It was an older ship, but in great shape. They really took good care of it (we saw them painting and fixing something every day!) My only problem was that the ship was not really set up for Freestyle dining. If I remember correctly, they had two dining rooms and maybe one or two small specialty restaurants. The buffet area was very small. My husband seems to prefer the smaller, older ships - and I prefer the newer larger ships. Last May we took the Dawn to Florida and Bahamas and this May we are taking her to Bermuda and Bahamas. Leaving from NYC is great - it takes us about an hour and we are on vacation!

a couple of comments here: first of all, what brought this up seeing the ship hasn't been part of NCL, for nearly a year, it is not being run by the sister company, Star cruises. second, I don't know how old you are, but my granddaught loved the kids program and I have clients who said the teen program was the best. IF you are in the age group of 17-21, guess what? All lines are about the same. I still don't know what brought this up? NMNita

I sailed on the Sea in April 2003, it's an older and smaller ship and we knew this going in and we had a great time. The entertainment was great. This was a 13 day cruise and every night the shows were great.

We sailed on her last trip through Panama before moving to Mumbai last year. It was a wonderful trip! 16 days in all. Yes, it was older comparing to other mega ships, but it had everything we needed. It was really sad to see that everything in the casino were packed the morning we disembarked. We will remember this ship for a long time!

We, too, were on her last cruise last summer. My, then, 14 year old daughter loved it and the teen program. My husband perfers the newer, bigger, ships. I rather liked the small size of the Sea. It was great fun seeing the crew, most of whom had never been through the Panama Canal, out on the crew deck as we went through the Canal.
