patwell Posted April 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Hi all....Found these photos from yesterday's big event. Expect there will be more posted in the next couple of days from folks who went. But here's a nice sample for all of us who missed the excitement. How pretty the Saga Rose looks "posed" with QM2!! Hope this link works...I'm not real good at this technical stuff!!! imacruizer Posted April 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Penny, those are great photos. Knowing your liner history, I'm sure the photo of the Saga Rose beside the QM2 is your favorite. Thanks so much for providing the link. And yes, it does work. Beth
guernseyguy Posted April 24, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Penny, Thanks for the link - here's another one from the local press - nice bit about what the QM2 played while the QE2 sailed past: http://www.thisissouthampton.co.uk/hampshire/southampton/shipping/SOTON_SHIPPING_NEWS0.html Peter
JLC@SD Posted April 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Thanks for the post, I enjoyed the photos. We were on the Oceana when she was the Ocean Princess, and we saw Saga Rose in Papeete when she was berthed next to us on the Tahitian Princess. Except for the added deck on top, she still has her beautiful original lines. We will be in Southampton in August on the Golden Princess.
patwell Posted April 24, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Peter...thanks for the link. LOVED the choice of songs...how fitting for a grand lady. What an exciting moment that must have been for all. Glad you all enjoyed the photos...I'll post more if they get posted. And you're right Beth...my favorite photo for sure. Sort of a snapshot of my past and future all in one. Both lovely ladies, but how different. And thank you JLC for that fabulous shot of Saga Rose!!! It's gorgeous...and I've almost forgiven that added deck since she still is so sleek and elegant. Good things do really come in small packages. I truly appreciate your sharing it. Pincus Posted April 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2006 Thanks to you both for sharing such a wonderful day! Especially enjoyed the choice of songs. Am looking forward to another crossing on the QM2 next spring. Pincus
pepperrn Posted April 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2006 I have a few pictues taken from Hythe Pier (with a good telephoto lens) on Sunday. However I've no way of sharing them here. If someone who CAN post them here would like to do so, please e-mail me at pepper@royal.navy.org.uk and I will send them to you. If you think they are good enough, I do! :) Thanks Pepper.
