ICRE1629 Posted April 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2006 As we all know, the Queen Mary 2 is a unique ship which has features of a cruise liner and an ocean liner. So what would you classify it as? An ocean liner? A cruise liner? Or both? This is just a little poll that I wanted to post. Your participation is appreciated. My vote: Both

guernseyguy Posted April 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2006 She's designed to do both - but the job description of a liner means that when a conflict between a cruise ship & a liner came up - the liner won...... Peter
Bramcruiser Posted April 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Well even though she does some cruising she really was built for the transatlantic crossings. So I'd have to say: Ocean Liner
wripro Posted April 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2006 She is definitely an ocean liner. However no one told the staff and crew. The feeling aboard is totally one of being on a cruise ship.

Bollinge Posted April 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Ocean liner: 26.5 knots with only three wheels on the wagon says it all! Check out a cruise ship's service speed.

Bramcruiser Posted April 25, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 25, 2006 She's a LINER who makes the ultimate sacrifice to function as a cruise ship occasionally for those of us who can't cross right now!! Cheers, Penny Well I can cross but the finances suggest that staying over there or attempting to return may just be a problem. However, now that I said that who would want to return:D David
Kindlychap Posted April 25, 2006 #12 Share Posted April 25, 2006 Not having sailed on her, but having been on her, I'd say she was a liner. A liner is built for line voyages. A cruise ship isn't.
