gty. room instead of being assigned a room

Question for those in the know:

For the 1/6/07 QM2 cruise, I booked Cat. B5, Balcony, but not assigned a specific room.

Was told I would get a room, Cat. B5, Balcony, or an upgrade. Room would not be assigned until right before the cruise.

Has anyone ever done this and did you get an upgrade or your original category?

Should I just go ahead and be assigned a specific room?

At the end of May we're going on a short cruise on the QE2. We booked P4 gty - we've now been allocated our cabin grades - P1.

Hi, Yes, we booked a C6 Gty for a May QE2 cruise (could be the same one as pnhmrk?) and been allocated a C2.

You may find that the're not willing to give a specific B5 cabin at the same rate as a B5 Gty. It gives them less flexibility so they may charge you more.

pnhmrk, Are you going on the 26th May trip? I've started a Roll Call on http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=6471427#post6471427

Maybe see you on board. Regards, Colin.
