JodiBB Posted April 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2006 We took RCCL (not Celebrity), but I can tell you that our formal nights tended to be during our "at sea" days, so people didn't have to feel rushed to get dressed after a long day in port. FLsunshinegal Posted June 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2006 I called Celebrity about formal nights. They said that they are usually the third night and the second to the last night on board....the third varies. Hope that helps. Kim

On our cruise, that should be Aug. 27. We travel the Aug. 26 cruise, and our anniversary is 28th; we want to go to the specialty restaurant on that date, only if it is not a formal night. They told me Aug. 28 would be semi-formal. I see that another poster was told the third night out! I am not sure of the reliability of the information from Celebrity now, so I will not pre-book the specialty restaurant; I will wait until I am on board. These are my guesses for when the Formal Nights will be. I am sailing this itinerary.....in July. Three Formal Nights: 1. The first At Sea day, which is day 2 of the cruise. 2. The day we are in Tallin, because the ship leaves Tallin @ 4 pm. 3. The day we are in Poland, because the ship leaves Poland @ 3 pm.
Boo's Mom Posted June 1, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2006 and to add: Since there are only 3 "At Sea" days on this 14 night itinerary...... The first two Sea days are back to back, at the beginning of the cruise. One of these will be, surely a Formal Night. I seriously doubt that they will do back to back formal nights. With the last At Sea day being the last night of the cruise....they surely will not do a formal night on this night. This is a sad night, with all the packing going on. Everyone taking a look at their final bill. :( Formal Nights are huge money makers for the ship. Lots of photos, alcohol, etc.... being sold. Gambling, too. So, this is why I made my choices above. emeyers Posted June 1, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2006 Boos Mom: I've spoken with the Captains Club several times with the same question: Formal night 1 will be our first full day at sea---July 2nd in our case. The second and third formal nights will be determined by the Captain. It is believed the 2nd formal night will be Saturday, July 8th. It is doubtful that the 3rd and final formal evening will be 2 days later. The final formal night is usually when the Captain thanks everyone for choosing Celebrity and gives an award to the couple who has the most sailings with Celebrity. I agree that the last night at sea would be a poor choice for the reasons cited. The only way to truly know the dates is when a member of cruise critics has been on the Constellation sailing of June 3rd which has the same itinerary as July 1st, and gives a review or looks into this thread. Ellis Hey Ellis.... ! :) I agree that two days apart on the formal nights is not ideal..... but, the next three nights, we are in port until 9:30 pm, Midnight, & 9 pm. We shall see how they do it !
