Marialivia Posted May 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2006 We're booked on the Amsterdam for the Baltic Gems cruise on 6/11 from Newark (SAS Airlines). Has anyone heard anything about fuel surcharges? Like everyone else, I dread negative info but want to be prepared! Thanks.
lvtotrvl1 Posted May 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2006 You can never tell. The cruiseline and the airline can both impose surcharges. Just keep your fingers crossed! I booked a Cruise the other day that had a fuel charge added already.
mushroom Posted May 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2006 I'm on the Noordam in September. In February, we were given the option of making final payment (not really due until mid-June) by the end of March in order to avoid a $75.00 per person fuel surcharge. As far as I know, I don't even have an air schedule yet, but I suppose HA has been given a warning that surcharges can be expected by all international airlines. elmorejj Posted May 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2006 At the beginning of each year I usually book all of my trips for the whole year. This year it includes 3 trips to Mexico, 1 to the Domincan Republic, 1 to England, 1 to Canada and a cruise. I used USAir for 4 of the trips and they gave me the option of paying in full on booking to protect myself from surcharges. None of the other airlines I`m using mentioned this and so far they haven`t asked for any extra money......Hope I don`t get surprised at the airport!!..........jean:cool:
Marialivia Posted May 3, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted May 3, 2006 Thanks everyone. We paid for our entire trip quite a while ago, and I'm hoping that helps somehow but yes, my fingers (and toes) are crossed! I realize that they could add a surcharge at any time.
