cruisinreunion Posted May 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2006 I read that you can have gift baskets delivered to your cabin. Alot of these include wine and champagne. Do you know if you have to pay the $15.00 corkage fee for the bottles on top of the price, or is it included? didn't know if it was worth doing or should we just purchase through the ship. thanks
Cotton Posted May 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2006 We would be able to answer your questions better if we knew which cruiseline.....??? Carnival, for instance, charges $10 corkage fee (although it's rarely actually charged) for taking a bottle of wine into the dining room. That is IF you brought your own wine on board, or had it delivered by an outside agency. If purchased through Carnival, of course there's no corkage fee. cruisinreunion Posted May 3, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted May 3, 2006 We are traveling on NCL Spirit. I was thinking of ordering a bottle or two of champagne for the room and didn't know if they would charge the extra fee on top of the cost of the basket. Cotton Posted May 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2006 I can't imagine any cruise line charging a corkage fee for having your champagne in your cabin.:)
musicmansmom Posted May 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2006 i have always have wine delivered to the cabin through gift services ( this is on the carnival ships ) and have never had a corkage fee. it is always chilled in the cabin when i board. just remember to bring a wine opener with you in your checked luggage. or the cabin steward will open it for you. did you order food along with your basket ???. i never pay for food to be brought into the cabin. there are tons of '' free food '' on the lido deck. but ordered wine for the embarkation day and brought in my carry-on --oh ya :D
Cotton Posted May 5, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2006 .....be sure to bring a wine opener with you in your checked luggage. or the cabin steward will open it for you. On several cruises, friends have sent me bottles of wine, which were chilled in my cabin upon arrival, along with wine glasses, cocktail napkins, and a Carnival logo corkscrew. When I've taken my own wine on board, I ask the cabin steward for a corkscrew, and he has always brought one for me. I have several. Nice little souveniers.:)
